Title: I Have Charity On My Mind
Post by: islandboy on October 20, 2011, 11:12:08 PM
Acts of charity come in many different ways. Some folks donate and some volunteer. Some folks try too help by writing grants and others help by running non-profit charities. Some manage pet projects and others fill in the blanks helping folks who need it the most.
All charity efforts except for ones that are scams, show how much of a caring generous country we are and that no matter how hard times are there are folks willing to help other folks who are having a harder time of it than most. In searching the web I ran across a website with really good advice on the importance of volunteers and figuring how much to give, how to decide where to give of time or money and lots of good advice on the operation of charities and other non-profits. This site is by Jason Hope. He does not sell anything.
I read quite a bit on his site and came away with lots of good solid knowledge. So I thought I would share this thought, as well as, the link to his site in case you want to take a peek at it yourself. http://www.jasonhopegives.com    I enjoy doing volunteer work in my community, in fact there are so many organizations in our area that normally might be paying jobs elsewheres, but here are run by totally volunteer staff. I will enjoy your comments on this subject.

Hello Islandboy,

I see that 7 have read this post in the short time since it was posted, so I hope that many more will benefit from this information. I went to the site and bookmarked it so that I can go back and study it in more detail. By the way, what I did read was excellent. Thanks for sharing this information with us. I do hope and pray that it will encourage many to volunteer and/or support worthy charities in whatever way that they can.

Love In Christ,
Tom

I am happy to share this important information. Even though our small town is packed with volunteers there are always room for more.
From small tasks to bigger ones volunteer labor helps brighten the days and hopes of many people.

Hello Islandboy,

I couldn't agree with you more. I must also say that volunteering is also good for the volunteer in many ways. There is purpose and that purpose is a matter of love and compassion for others. It feels good to volunteer, especially for a Christian.

Matthew 22:36-40 KJV  Master, which is the great commandment in the law?  37  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  38  This is the first and great commandment.  39  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  40  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

I give thanks for all of the volunteers, and I hate to think about what things would be like without them.

Love In Christ,
Tom

I have a feel things would really get bad in a hurry without kind-hearted volunteers. Our hospitals and nursing homes, all kinds of organizations and fundraisers for the poor would go down the tubes. It is a great service to our country the hard work volunteers do.
Thanks for adding to this post Tom. I agree whole-heartily with you.
