Title: women leaders and ministers
Post by: Lscarlette on August 30, 2011, 01:23:03 PM
This is something I have noticed and something that upsets me a lot. Is that I fail to see Christian Authors both fiction and non fiction but Fiction write women as leaders let alone as Ministers or Deaconess in their books. Not Dekker, Peretti or Bunn all 3 are  among my favorites authors. I don't get it is the love of money, getting great reviews, books being topsellers more important than speaking the Gods Truth.
Look at all these women who were leaders in some form
 Junia a Female Apostle
 Phoebe a Deaconness
Prisca a Teacher greatly praised in the Bible
Euodia and Syntche  Church leaders named in Phillipians
Then their is Deborah a Military Leader, Judge and Prophetess
 Phillips 4 virgin daughters
Miriam had a church in the wilderness
 Apphia
 Nympha
 Chloe
and Last but not least Mary Magdalene and the women who were with her and  first to see that Jesus Christ had risen from the grave. Mary Magdalene was told to go and tell the Brethen that Christ has risen sounds like preachering to me.
 now the Bible verses I find convictiing are Galatians 3: 28 Acts 2 :9 Acts 2 13-21, and Joel 2 :28
So would love to hear what others have to say

Hi , and I have never seen a Greek word for Deaconess in Strong's or in Vine's .

Like always , many Greek words have more than one meaning .

Many on the churchs that I have attended have a Board of Deacon , and some consider all members as Deacons or Servants .

In Rom 15:8 , " Now I say that Jesus Christ had become a  DIAKONOS/DEACON  of the Circumcision for God's truth ".

There were no Deacon's in Jesus earthly ministry and that is why the translation here should be either  Servant or Minister .
