Title: Can a Gentiles be Circumcisied without being Jewish ???
Post by: dan p on December 27, 2010, 06:08:53 PM
Hi to all , and of course it happened , and where is that found ??

Turn to Acts 10:1-2 , Cornelius , in verse 2 is called  " a devout man , and one that feared God with all his house , which gave much alms to the people  (  Jews  )   , and prayed to God always .

 Now , turn to Rom 2:25-26  :

Verse 25 , For Circumcision verily profiteth ,  IF YOU KEEP THE LAW ,  but if thou be a breaker of the Law , Thy  Circumcision  is made  Uncircumcision

Here in verse 26 , Therefore  IF  the Uncircumcision should keep the  Righteous   Requirements of the Law , will not his Uncircumcision be counted for  CIRCUMCISION .

So , that means that Cornelius was CIRCUMCIED  and was  Gentile ,  dan p

Hi Dan,
It may only mean that Cornelius' uncircumcision was counted for circumcision and not necessarily that he was physically circumcised. Just as our faith in the Gospel is counted for righteousness...not that we act all that righteously.

Hello prism and again , welcome to the forum.

Hi Dan,
It may only mean that Cornelius' uncircumcision was counted for circumcision and not necessarily that he was physically circumcised. Just as our faith in the Gospel is counted for righteousness...not that we act all that righteously.

Amen.

Rom 2:25-26 cannot be fully understood by themselves and one must continue on through to the end of this chapter. This again is telling us of the difference between that of the outward man and the inner man, that which is flesh compared with that which is spiritual. It is that which is spiritual that matters most.

Hi Dan
The conversion of Cornelius found in Acts chapters 10 and 11 reveal (among other things) that Cornelius was a gentile ( Acts 10:45 and ll:18 and that he was uncircumcised Acts 11:3.  As you have said, context is important.

God bless,
