Title: Judges: No Bible Reading in Kindergarten
Post by: light2light on June 02, 2009, 05:02:24 AM
The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says the mother of a kindergartner cannot read the Bible during show and tell.

(Even if the Bible is the boy's favorite Book)

The ruling sides with the Marple Newtown School District in suburban Philadelphia.

First Amendment rights ?

Not a factor says the court.

The mother argued that students hear stories related to Passover, Christmas and other religious holidays.

Not a factor - says the court.

The court said there's a "significant difference" between identifying those holidays and reading from Scripture.
