'Somebody's Daughter: A Journey to Freedom from Pornography'

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (christiansunite.com) -- "Somebody's Daughter: A Journey to Freedom from Pornography", a multimedia release featuring a television documentary detailing the lives of three men and one couple active in Christian ministry who struggle with and overcome addiction to pornography, will be available in a DVD- CD set Sept. 19.

Produced by Music for the Soul, the release also includes compelling and therapeutic songs, illustrative music videos and personal vignettes. Study guide curriculum for individuals, counselors and churches also is available.

According to recent surveys, nearly 60 percent of Christian men and 37 percent of pastors admit to struggling with pornography. No longer just a problem for men, 35 percent of women also admit to the addiction.

"Somebody's Daughter" was produced to shine the light on how the $13.3 billion pornography industry is plaguing those who profess Christianity, and to promote healing and deliverance from the growing epidemic.

"The personal testimonies given...lower the barrier for men who are having a hard time overcoming the shame and guilt of pornography," said Dave Begueire, co-host and executive producer of Man2Man Express, a daily radio show for men. "Hearing that other men have experienced the same feelings makes it easier for them to be honest about what's going on in their lives."

The concept for the "Somebody's Daughter" project was born from a song of the same name written by Christian recording artist John Mandeville and Steve Siler, founder and director of Music for the Soul, after Mandeville revealed to Siler his struggles with pornography.

After attending a meeting for sex addicts, the two men wrote the song to illustrate that women should be viewed as a creation of a Holy God, and as a starting point for Mandeville's healing.

Since then, Music for the Soul has produced 18 music and spoken word tracks, four music videos and a television documentary, all compiled on the new release, "Somebody's Daughter."

A curriculum guide is also available to help churches and ministries implement the resources on the DVD and CD. Ten percent of sales of the project will be donated to Christian counseling centers to aid in counseling people with pornography addictions.

Music for the Soul is a not-for-profit Christian ministry committed to providing life-changing healing through music and song. The ministry provides multimedia resources for churches, pastors, counselors and lay leaders to promote the discussion and healing of life's most painful issues.

Projects produced by Music for the Soul follow a specific formula in order to reach target audiences. Each musical and video production states the problem, helps the audience see it in their own life, walks them through steps toward healing, and shows them there is hope and a future free from pain.

Other topics tackled by Music for the Soul productions include eating disorders, cancer survival, suicide, children with special needs and marital strife. The ministry also produced a CD for Katrina survivors and for emergency workers after the 9-1-1 tragedy.

"As a writer and producer, I've described our process to people this way: It's like taking a coat of pain off the rack and wearing it for several months," said Siler. "I may not have lived the issue, but I do know how to craft or recognize a great song. Once the project is done, I take off the coat. It's a painful and challenging process, but a deeply gratifying way to use the gift of communication God has given to me."

Siler is the writer of 400 recorded songs, nine #1 Contemporary Christian Music magazine (CCM) songs and 40 "Top 10" singles. He has been nominated for four Dove Awards, winning the Inspirational Song of the Year in 2000 with "I Will Follow Christ."

The premiere of "Somebody's Daughter" will take place Sept. 27 at Trinity Baptist Church in Apopka, Fla. (Orlando area). The event will include live performances by contemporary Christian recording artists Clay Crosse, Scott Krippayne and John Mandeville.

"Somebody's Daughter" is scheduled to air Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 on the ION Television Network (formerly PAX TV). The documentary also is slated to air on INSP, Faith TV and "It's Time for Herman & Sharron."

The DVD-CD set will be available at www.somebodysdaughter.org and is being distributed to Christian retailers by Vision Video.
