Race car sponsor promotes God's love
No. 1 automotive battery company draws people to Christ

The No. 1 automotive replacement battery brand in North America has launched a commercial aimed at solely at spreading God's love.

Interstate Batteries, a company selling approximately 15 million batteries a year, is an associate sponsor for Joe Gibbs Racing car No. 18 driven by Kyle Busch. Chairman Norm Miller explained why the company decided to promote God's love in a video statement.

"Well I was really burdened with man's inhumanity to man – all the violence and abuse and murder and mamas killing their babies and all these things that you get," he said. "It came into my heart and mind that we need more of God's love right now to help us love one another, and I thought we can make a commercial and we could at least step out there and tell the people."

The 30-second commercial begins with an elderly woman crossing a dark street in an inner city. A would-be robber is filled with God's love and steps out of the shadows to help her.

Two men battling with road rage are immediately filled with God's love, and they stop yelling at one another. An exhausted father returns home to his family after a hard day of work with God's love in his heart.

In the background, as song plays with the words, "We need more of God's love so we can love one another, more of God's love to help us love one another right now." The commercial ends with a web address for the Interstate Batteries ad.

The company states, "We realize it is a little unusual for a company to be spreading news about God's Love. We want to honor God in how we manage our business and serve our community everyday."

According to the website, "Norm is known for his strong Christian business principles, and often speaks to interested organizations around the country. Norm's faith defines who he is, and he and his management team offer a ministry to interested Interstate employees through a Corporate Chaplain Department."

Interstate Batteries provides more information on how people can receive Jesus into their hearts and experience God's love.

"You can accept Him right now, just like I did, by repeating this prayer and making it the commitment of your heart," the website says. "Just pray 'Dear God, I want freedom from the slavery of my sin. I believe Jesus is the Truth, and I accept Him now as my Lord and Savior. I ask you for forgiveness of my sins, because He paid for them for me. Please give me the power to live a life pleasing to You. Thank you for this gift of new and eternal life in Christ! In Jesus' name, Amen!'

Miller said the company's message is simple.

"The main purpose of the commercial is to inform people and remind people that God's love is available for us, and He wants to help us live a life where we love on another," he said. "I thought with the commercial that we could encourage that."
