Title: Why is it important to know who the Messiah is?
Post by: Soldier4Christ on July 08, 2008, 01:00:12 PM
Why is it important to know who the Messiah is?

Scripture tells us that even His own will reject Him. (Isa 53:3 ) He may be accepted as a prophet, a teacher, just a flesh and blood man by some, others will deny He even existed. He is rejected for who He actually is.

We are also told that many will come in His name, portraying themselves to be Him. Some of these may even perform  miracles deceiving many men. God tells us in scripture just how to tell these false messiahs with the One True Messiah.

Joh 8:24  ...  for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Isa 29:18  And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

Tenakh/Hebrew/Old Testament Prophecies Fulfilled by Jesus Christ, Messiah

ALL of these prophesies were made hundreds, sometimes thousands, of years before Jesus Christ was born. Looking in the face of how He literally fulfilled them all it is an impossibility that He is not The Messiah, Saviour of the world. The ONLY person...past, present or future...who could fulfill all these prophecies is Jesus Christ.

AMEN AND AMEN!

WONDERFUL - THANKS!

Brother, I've never seen such a lengthy list for comparisons in one place. I really look forward to spending more time with this listing in context. I have no doubt that it will be very interesting. It could also be the basis for many fascinating Bible Studies.

Isaiah 53 is a great place to start. It's concentrated and exceptionally clear. My mother and I were discussing this portion of Scripture the other day. The topic of the conversation regarded why the Jewish Old Testament scholars rejected CHRIST with so much traceable evidence --  The LIFE and TIMES of JESUS CHRIST compared to ALREADY EXISTING OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY THAT WAS FULFILLED PERFECTLY! The HUGE number of specifics would make coincidence AN IMPOSSIBILITY! So, why didn't the Jewish Bible Scholars connect Scripture with JESUS CHRIST? Many of them spent their lives in studying the Old Testament, so it's almost beyond belief that many didn't stand and SHOUT, "HE IS THE CHRIST - OUR MESSIAH AND KING!" Contrary to all EVIDENCE - Israel rejected CHRIST!

I hope and pray that all Christians copy this listing and study it. This is the BEST and MOST PRECIOUS example of the Holy Bible proving itself! This listing should also serve as HARD EVIDENCE that JESUS CHRIST was exactly who HE said that HE was -- ONE WITH THE FATHER - VERY GOD!

Pastor Roger, THANKS AGAIN!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Favorite Bible Quotes 284 - Luke 2:7-14 And she brought forth her
firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a
manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there
were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch
over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon
them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were
sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I
bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is
Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find
the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And
suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host
praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace, good will toward men.

So, why didn't the Jewish Bible Scholars connect Scripture with JESUS CHRIST?

You're most welcome, brother. It has been pure pleasure to do it. As long as it is it is indeed a study worthy of doing.

Paul, being a Jew himself, answered this question many times to both the Jews and the Gentiles. We see this especially so in the book of Romans. It has to do with the promises of God and is also a fulfillment of prophecy.

Didn't they think that Jesus was going to rule as king?

Didn't they think that Jesus was going to rule as king?

There is much more to it but yes, they did expect Him to rule as King. They were looking to the things of this world instead of looking to the things of God.

Pastor Roger,

Brother, this is definitely a worthy Bible Study. I plan to go back and forth between the Old Testament and the New Testament studying each comparison. Someone considering a decision for CHRIST could use a study like this to make CONCRETE out of their doubts. All Christians can use a study like this to grow stronger in CHRIST, and we can all get some great ideas for witnessing. Maybe it would be good to think of this listing as evidence to be presented. If we are serious about WANTING to consider this evidence, how far down the list would we get before some strong opinions were reached? I think that the most important questions in history can be answered with a study like this. It would certainly be direct evidence for the most important decision each of us has to make in this short life. Do I accept or reject JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOUR - the LORD and central focus of my life?

Love In Christ,
Tom

leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth
me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I
walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou
preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou
anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and
mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the
house of the LORD for ever.

The scriptures bear abundant testimony that Jesus Christ is God. Some liberal preacher will say to me, "You take the Bible literally. It's just myths." I answer, "Yes, I believe the Bible 100%. It is the word of God. If you don't believe it, Jesus is of no effect to you, ye are yet in your sins."

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD was manifest in the FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, BELIEVED ON in the world, RECEIVED UP into glory." --1 Timothy 3:16

"But unto the SON he saith, 'Thy throne, O GOD, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom'...And, 'Thou, LORD, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands.'" -- Hebrews 1:8, 10

"I and my Father are ONE." --Jesus Christ, John 10:30

"...CHRIST JESUS...being in the FORM OF GOD, thought it not robbery to be EQUAL WITH GOD: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." --Philippians 2:5-8

"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: and THESE THREE ARE ONE." --1 John 5:7

"... feed the church of GOD, which he hath purchased with his OWN BLOOD." --Acts 20:28

"Hereby perceive we the love of GOD, because he LAID DOWN HIS LIFE for us... --1 John 3:16

"And they stoned Stephen, calling upon GOD, and saying, LORD JESUS, receive my spirit." --Acts 7:59

"For unto us A CHILD IS BORN, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, The Prince of Peace." --Isaiah 9:6

"And Thomas answered and said unto him [JESUS], My Lord and MY GOD." --John 20:28

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, AND DWELT AMONG US, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." --John 1:1-4, 14

"Philip saith unto him, 'Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.' Jesus saith unto him, 'Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me Philip? HE THAT HATH SEEN ME HATH SEEN THE FATHER; and how sayest thou then, 'Shew us the Father?''" -- John 14:8-9

"...CHRIST, who is the IMAGE OF GOD..." --II Corinthians 4:4

"...glory of GOD in the FACE OF JESUS CHRIST." --II Corinthians 4:6

"GOD...hath in these last days spoken unto us by his SON...who being the brightness of his glory, and the EXPRESS IMAGE OF HIS PERSON..." --Hebrews 1:1-3

"For in [Jesus] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."  -- Colossians 2:9

"...they shall call his name EMMANUEL, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US." --Matthew 1:23

"The voice of him [John the Baptist] that crieth in the wilderness, PREPARE ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway FOR OUR GOD."  -- Isaiah 40:3

"The Jews answered [Jesus], saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God." -- John 10:33

How much more do we need to know who Jesus Christ is?

Rom 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew
first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith
to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Salvation, salvation from death under the law by God's perfect grace.

Rom 3:10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11  There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh
after God.
Rom 3:12  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become
unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Rom 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and
death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned:

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all
ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in
unrighteousness;

Rom 3:20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be
justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Rom 3:27  Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of
works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Rom 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be
saved from wrath through him.

Rom 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance
and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee
to repentance?

Rom 3:22  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus
Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no
difference:

Rom 3:28  Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith
without the deeds of the law.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 4:21  And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was
able also to perform.

Rom 4:24  But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe
on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Rom 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED. WON'T YOU ACCEPT HIM AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR TODAY?

AMEN BROTHER!

That was beautiful!

Brother, I had to come back and add a thought to this post. We should consider the 2nd COMING OF CHRIST. The Holy Bible tells us about objectives that will be achieved by CHRIST at HIS SECOND COMING. ONE IS TO PROVIDE UNQUESTIONED PROOF THAT HE IS GOD! HE'S always been GOD, but HE'S been rejected and disrespected. Many things are HIS, and they've always been HIS, but HE has been denied. HE WILL TAKE WHAT IS HIS AND REFUSE TO BE DENIED! AFTER ALL, HE IS GOD, AND THIS HAS BEEN ABSOLUTE TRUTH FOR ETERNITY PAST! HIS patience with evil men who have rejected and disrespected HIM is almost beyond belief. This evil world is ripe for HIS GREAT, JUST, AND RIGHTEOUS WRATH!

JESUS CHRIST died on the CROSS for evil men. This is the ultimate act of love, but evil men are still rejecting and disrespecting HIM. HIS patience will come to an end soon - rightfully so! HE IS GOD AND WILL TAKE WHAT IS HIS!

Love In Christ,
Tom
