Title: Global Warming? What's it doing your neck of the woods?
Post by: HisDaughter on March 02, 2008, 12:13:07 AM
I thought this might be a fun thread topic.  Especially since "Global Warming" is the biggest joke so far in the new millenium.  And the crazy weather we had in Seattle today proves it.

This morning we woke up to sunshine but it quickly clouded over and got pretty dark although you could wear shirtsleeves.  If you're a true Seattlelite it doesn't take too many degrees for us to be able to do that.  Then this afternoon it started hailing and got heavier.  Shortly there was a loud clap of thunder and the sky opened up with a horrendous downpour!  If you're a true Seattelite, this excites you.  I never did see the lightening but I'm sure it was there somewhere in the dark clouds.  That lasted about a half hour and stopped and the tempture seemed to plummet and it was time to put a light jacket on.  The last time I stepped outside (about 15 min. ago) and I, personally, still in the shirtsleeves of my favorite Mariner t-shirt, have to admit it was quite nippy.  Possibly mid to high 30's.

So what's it doing in your neck of the woods?  ;D

In Christ,
Grammyluv

From what I remember of Seattle that is pretty normal weather.

It is really warm here today. It is already 42 degrees out this early in the day. It is supposed to get up in the upper 50's. Tonight and tomorrow though the temperatures are supposed to plunge back down and we are supposed to get freezing rain and snow both Monday and Tuesday. This is also pretty normal for this time of year here.

 ;D   ;D

This is one of the coldest years we've had in a long time in Oklahoma. All I can say is that it must be rough to get all kinds of recognition, prizes, awards, and fame for peddling ABSOLUTE BALONEY. Al Gore has been just about our only source for HOT AIR.

Brothers and Sisters, this is an excellent example of the vanity of man versus the ABSOLUTE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD. Mankind is going to look foolish in this comparison every time. GOD is in charge of the seasons, just as HE is in control over the sun and the rest of HIS CREATION. The time will come when HE will provide undeniable PROOF that HE is GOD, and HE will subject all things beneath HIS feet.

In the meantime, folks like Al Gore will continue to make fools of themselves. He can consider all that money he made for stand-up COMEDY.

You must not have been in the mountains of Arizona.

Nope.  Smack dab in the middle of the desert between Yuma and Hila Bend!  Hot, hot and hot!  Nothing but cotton and citrus for miles and little no-account towns.  The one I was in was Dateland, AZ.  Just a little bitty dot on the map.  I was a waitress, a live in babysitter and then drove a tractor for a cotton gin!  I was only about 21-22 yrs old and stupid.  Tried my hand at picking lemons but just couldn't do it and dodge the horseflies at the same time!  Ran over 5 very large rattle snakes the first 3 months I was there and then backed up and drove over 'em again!   ;D

Brother Bob is in the mountains. A portion of the state that most people never think of when they think of Arizona. I have never spent a whole lot of time in the state myself. Usually it has just been "passin through". The longest I stayed there was two days and one night at a hotel on the upper edge of the Grand Canyon. I also got stuck in Phoenix once for about 8 hours because an old car I had overheated in the 105 temps. It took that long for the car to cool down enough to get it started.

That's true for most areas. In fact some areas have broken a 100 year old record. The global warming nuts still say it is due to global warming.  ::) ::)

Want to do something to help stop global warming?

Here are 10 Simple things you can do and how much carbon dioxide you'll save doing them!

Change a light

Replacing one regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent
light will save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

Drive less

Walk, bike, carpool or take metro transit more often. You'll save
one pound of carbon dioxide for every mile you don't drive!

Recycle more

You can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide per
year by recycling just half of your household waste.

Check your tires

Keeping your tires inflated properly can improve gas mileage by more than 3%. Every
gallon of gasoline saved keep 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere!

Use less hot water

It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Use less hot water by installing a low-flow
shower-head (350 pounds of carbon dioxide saved per year) and washing your clothes in
cold or warm water (500 pounds save per year).

Avoid products with a lot of packaging

You can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide if you cut down your garbage by 10%.

Adjust your thermostat

Moving your thermostat down just 2 degrees in winter and up 2 degrees
in summer could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

Plant a Tree

A single tree will absorb on ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.

Turn off electronic devices

Simply turning off your television, DVD player, stereo, and computer when you're
not using them will save thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

Be a part of the Solution

If you want to do something to stop global warming then you better learn how to control the sun. Carbon Dioxide has NOTHING to do with global warming. It is a false and destructive science.

Gee...where have I heard this before??  Oh yeah!  Leftist, commie, propaganda....I knew it sounded familiar.
Darlin', Global Warming is a myth.  A cruel joke being played on the American people and at the American people's expense.  Literally.  You might want to read our "Global Warming" thread.  It will give you an idea of the falsehood of it and how we feel about it.

In Christ,
Grammyluv

PS) If the planet could be saved by doing the things above, then I am single handedly saving it myself.  I have tons of plants. I take a bus to work.  I rarely turn on the heat. I never leave anything on that I'm not using. I don't drive although I have a licence.  I won't change a light bulb unless it burns out.  And all of this because I can't afford it.  And why can't I afford it?  Because the government is raping the country to line their own pockets while the people that have real jobs can't afford even the simplist quality of life.  If you really want to stop Global Warming then work hard to stop all the hot air that is coming from the blowhards that are ruining our country.

Wrong, You Need to Read more about its effects on the Car you drive and what it does too the Protective Layer we call air around out Earth, Read more about Global Warming at Wikipeida online.

I have a Very high understanding and education about Global Warming. I have Did a lot of those things on the list I posted, not only does it Save me money, it Does Help too Save the Earth We All are Destorying.

I was born Severely Disabled and I cannot afford much either, I did some of the things on the list at it DID save me money on my Electric Bill every month. I Live  and own a house in Troutdale, Oregon, I am on Green Windmill Power and a fixed Bill all year long. I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 that I hardly drive as I don't and cannot afford too go any where.

May God Always Bless us all for Helping Save This Wonderful Earth He Created and too keep it cleaner as He would want us all to do!

MsGuidedAngel global warming is a joke. Though God does use weather as warning to man/woman, when He is going to change something. If you look in your Bible, you will see where God uses weather.

Hello MsGuidedAngel,

Sister, there are BIG MONEY reasons for why the pushers of Global Warming want their plans to be implemented. Many thousands of top-level scientists have already said it's a BIG LIE and MASSIVE FRAUD to make TONS OF MONEY. Many of the things in Al Gore's film have already been proven to be lies and gross exaggerations. In fact, the OPPOSITE of Al Gore's conclusions appear to be the TRUTH. The further this goes, THE MORE MONEY AL GORE MAKES!

GOD and HIS Laws of nature control climates - not man. GOD says in the Holy Bible that there will be seasons and a time for harvest until HE changes things in the Tribulation Period. Naturally and obviously, the SUN has the biggest influence on heat or cold on earth. The SUN has cycles that can be measured, but the SUN is not completely predictable. Solar storms and solar flares have huge impacts on earth that man can't do a thing about. Higher solar activity results in higher temperatures on earth. Lower solar activity results in lower temperatures on earth. The bottom line is that GOD is in control - not man. It's outrageous and unreasonable vanity on the part of man to think that climates can be controlled by man. GOD does as HE pleases in the Heavens and on earth - not man.

Love In Christ,
Tom

I know I am about four year late posting on this, but after the summer we just had... you still say global warming is a lie????? Have you looked at how much the ice shelf at both ends of the earth has melted and calved??  What about our unusual warm winter; excessive 100+ temps for weeks; the drought that covered most of the country; fires around the world, etc???? What if God is using man made global warming to futher his ends for this world?? Do you think economic distaster around the world; major natural events; etc., could be a good set up for the Ac to come on the scene and get control of the world?  Our bread basket feeds a large part of the world and the crops didn't make it due to the drought this year.

The Weather Channel and NOAA has not been totally truthful in the weather around the world. While we have had some rather unusually warm weather here in the central parts of the US there has also been record breaking cold weather in other parts. There has been record breaking cold and wet weather in the UK as well as other places in the Southern hemisphere such as South Africa getting snow.

An article claiming that “Arctic Ice Hits Record Low!” fails to tell that the record they are talking about only goes back 33 years. It also fails to tell that the satellite used to measure this ice has a problem in not being able to read all of the ice in the Artic. Another failure is in telling that Antarctic ice is actually growing not shrinking. The claim is that all glaciers are shrinking yet scientists have proved that those in various places such as Alaska, California and the Himalayas' have actually been growing. Snowfalls in the northern Rockies have been in record amounts this year with some being so much that the ski slopes were closed because there was TOO MUCH snow. This is the reason that the global warming movement has changed the language from global warming to "climate change".

Not only has the drought here in the midwest caused crop failures but so has extended months of extreme cold in other parts of the world killed crops as well as livestock. Volcanic activity has been a recent problem in some areas also killing even more crops and livestock.

The global warming hype was started by environmentalists. Not those believing in appropriate conservation but rather those that have gone further into the Gaia cult.

I think that you are correct about this news playing a part in the end times as it is an excellent means by which to increase laws that give the governments more control over the people moving us into a one world communistic style government.

Will global warming ever really come to the world? Not in the manner that these global warmist think. We are told in the Bible:

Rev 8:7  The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

Rev_16:8  And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.

Not from CO2 which is actually a substance that is badly needed and used by plants.

My area suffered from high temps and lack of rain, too. It is really not uncommon though.

1977 and 1988 saw heat/drought conditions that was almost as bad as the current one and in some ways they were worse. 1954 to 1956 saw droughts that was worse than the current one. While I was a bit young then I still remember the dead corn fields while the corn was still shorter than I was. The heat was really hard back then without air conditioners. Much of my Dad's vegetable garden didn't make it those years and two of our wells dried up.

According to the Palmer Drought Severity Index Records the U.S. has suffered 5 droughts since the 1930's that covered a larger area and lasted much longer than this one has so far.

Genesis 8:21-22 KJV  And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.  22  While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

God's Promises above are more than enough. All of man's hoopla about man-made global warming is just a con game to control mankind and take more of their money. The truth is that there have been and will be trends in cooling and warming, just as there always has been. The sun is the biggest factor, and all should know that God is in control of the sun. Small changes in solar activity have dramatic impact on the earth.

Grandma Doolittle and All,

I have often thought that God is setting the stage for ushering in the Tribulation Period. What can God Use? - obviously anything He desires. He does as He pleases in Heaven and on earth. I'm anxiously awaiting His Glorious Appearance to take us Home. In the meantime as we wait, I feel quite sure that this world will get worse and worse. As Christians, we have God's Promises to look forward to, and we know that He will be with us.

Amen!   God will use whatever he chooses to make his plans happen.  I don't worry about whether global warming is true or not.... God used a talking donkey to futher his plans... he can use global warming if he chooses... I just take each day and thank God for it.  Even when it was the hottest this summer, I found myself repeating,   "this is a day God has made, I will rejoice and be glad to have it."

Hello Grandma,

I was thinking about many things this morning, especially about health problems. However, I also thought about peace with and from God that I treasure. I know beyond any doubt that He will be with me - regardless of what happens in this short life. To make a long story short, I thought about the peace and the health problems just didn't seem to be that important any more.

I was thinking back when I saw this thread. Back in the 70's officials said we were heading into an ice age, well you can see how wrong they were back then. To me global warming is a farce, meant to line the pockets of All Gorey. Everyone should know, especially Christians, God is in control and He will always be in control.

I agree with you 100%. Here's what God has to say:

Genesis 8:21-22 KJV  And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.  22  While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
