Title: Grammyluv here!
Post by: HisDaughter on October 12, 2007, 01:20:36 PM
What do you know...another new one for the ranks!  My name is really Yvette but I love my grandkids and have a website called Grammyluv's Nest so we'll just keep with that!  Beside's being a grammy and mother of 3 adult children, I love the Lord and am very outspoken and have seemed to become politically minded lately.  I see so much going on in these last days that make me shake my head and really want to do something.  And yet at the same time I know these things must happen before Christ's return.  We'll talk more on that later.
There is so much more I want to tell you about me!  I enjoy many hobbies.  I'm an avid camper.  I still perfer a tent!  I love the Seattle Mariners and go to games when I can.  I also do the "traditional" grammy stuff like sew, crochet, craft, paint, write poetry, cook and love on my kids and grandkids!  I work full time for a large software company and I have a heart for homeless women and children and may be making that a full time occupation soon!  God willing.
I look forward to meeting you all and discussing current issues among other topics!

I am so excited!  Good Morning all!
A few years ago through life and circumstances I found myself homeless.  Although I had accepted Christ at an early age I had backsliden very far and for many years.  When I ended up homeless.  After a few months and after crying out to Him, He picked me up and placed me in a Women and Children's shelter in Seattle.  I spent 2 years there and completed their program and went on to do an internship.  After completing that I went to live in their transitional housing for another year.  During that time I found a job at a very large software company here in the northwest as a receptionist and I've been working there for about 2 1/2 years now.
Well I stayed close to my friends and mentors at the mission and would visit from time to time.  There has not been a day that has gone by that I haven't thought about them and prayed for them and the new women that have gone through there.  I spoke to the women at one of their graduations and shared my testimony and what God has done for me since leaving there. I had developed such a heart for the homeless and have thought many times about things that I'd like to share with them.
Here is the exciting part folks....Last week out of the blue I got a phone call from one of the directors asking if I would be interested in interviewing for a case management position!!!  It is what I have been praying and hoping for!  I interviewed last night after getting off of work at my regular job.  It went exceedingly well and I will be doing a second interview on Monday with a panel of about 5 I guess.  But here is the deal... I know them all!!  I won't be interviewing with strangers but people I know and love!
Even though I am barely getting by now financially, and this will mean a cut in pay, I am trusting the Lord that if He wants me there I will be and He will provide!  I will be in ministry and giving the same hope and encouragement that I received while there and that would be my dream come true!
I am so excited that I can hardly stand myself!

Prayers for God's will accepted!
Yvette (Grammyluv)

I'm at work now and can't stay on here right now but didn't want you all to worry and wonder.

In the words our Lord, "It is finished."  Only He was referring to something else.  I'm referring to my big move!  I worked last night, got up at 6:30 AM, the movers showed up at 9 AM and got my stuff moved to a storage unit.  Then I got here to the mission around 2:30 pm, got my stuff shoved in my room and was at work a little before 3.  My goodness what a day.  The good news is, at 10 pm all I have to do is go upstairs to my bed and I'm there!  I'm a little sad at moving from my apartment, but also excited about the adventure of staying here at the mission and what lies ahead.
I'm really missing my little man though too.  I've been so sick and then all this packing, etc.  I haven't seen him since Valentines Day!
Well that's the update on me.  Maybe more later.

In Christ,
Grammyluv.

Hello GrammyLuv,

Sister, it sounds like things are challenging, but it also sounds like things are going to be satisfying and GOOD in many ways. Many worthwhile things are difficult, but I know that GOD will be with you. I will pray that your JOY will be more full in the work ahead of you, and I honestly believe that it will be.

Sister, please know that you will remain in our prayers. I will pray that GOD gives you the strength and guidance to do HIS Will,

Love in Christ,
Tom

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour Forever!

Thanks Brother Tom!  One thing I can always be sure of...God is with me and God loves me!  No matter what.  What an awsome feeling to be so sure of that.  Since He lives in me and I in Him, that makes Him closer than a phone call away!  Pretty cool, uh?

Sister, if we reflect on what GOD has already given us, it should cause all of us to fall down on our face, worship HIM, Praise HIM, and Thank HIM. It's also a wonderful fact that this world isn't our home, and we can look at the Promises of GOD to us any time we want to. We should reflect on HIS Promises at least every day and KNOW what the future holds for us. Our faith, hope, and happiness is in a HOLY ONE who never fails and always keeps HIS Promises. HE will never leave or forsake us, and HIS Promises are so sure that we can consider them already done.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Ephesians 1:18-23 NASB I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

I have to share a little story about shopping for my birthday present to me!

For a long time I've been wanting a shirt that said a particular thing which meant I had to find one of those places that put things on T-shirts while you wait.  I went to several T-shirt shops in Seattle and they didn't do it.  One guy said, "Oh, yeah they used to be all over in the 70's."  My reply?....  "Well, THAT's where I'm from!"

I finally found a shop.  Probably the very last one in existence around here, and what was it that I wanted on my very special shirt?   "JESUS FREAK", of course!  (Also from the 70's  ;D)  And on the back I had them put the address to my very favorite verse, Jer. 29:11!
I also found a pair of ear-rings that are Peace signs.  Yes!  Peace signs are back in vogue!  ;D

Naw.  They've watched "That 70's Show", which I didn't think was too much like the 70's.  Not the 70's that I knew anyway.  The early 70's were just an extention of the 60's in the Bay Area.

Hi Grammyluv. I'm new  here. "Jeviasgrandma". R U from Seattle? I am originally from Tacoma. Been down south a couple yrs. I too, am an avid camper, still prefer the tent. I once was saved and lived my life as should be. Now I am back on the road of getting it together again. I love Jesus, I went away and now the guilt is so overwhelming I'm having a hard time concentrating. It is nice to meet you.

Hello GrammyLuv,

You are always in our prayers.

We had a wild and crazy night also. For some unknown reason, our block lost electricity last night for awhile. We know it wasn't storms or lightning because we didn't have anything like that last night - for a change. Whatever it was took three huge electric company trucks and you could smell something like giant fried electrical components.

GRIN MODE ON:  I was on the computer and the forum at the time, so this didn't fit into my plans. I knew it wasn't weather, so I listened for small arms fire and rockets landing from terrorists. I didn't hear anything like that, but my coffee cup was empty and I wasn't happy anyway sitting there in the dark. I am a little bit hard of hearing, so I did check to see if any of my neighbors were returning fire on terrorists. We live on the West side of town, and "All was quiet on the Western Front".  GRIN MODE OFF.

;D   We did lose electricity, but we have no idea why yet. AND, we're almost sure it wasn't a terrorist attack.

Perhaps it was one of those bushy tailed suicidal terrorists that like to get on top of the transformers so they can knock them out. That happens a lot here but it is more frequent when it gets cold.

Title: Re: Grammyluv here!
Post by: nChrist on June 25, 2008, 08:00:22 AM
Our wiring is underground, so whatever it was probably involved digging. We do have several families of rabbits in the neighborhood and a ton of squirrels. The last time I looked, it would be very difficult to open a transformer, so I really suspect some digging by a two-legged creature of some sort.   ;)

Title: Re: Grammyluv here!
Post by: Soldier4Christ on June 25, 2008, 11:56:12 AM
Even in areas that place the wires underground some of the transformers are usually placed in a fenced in area above ground. These are usually larger transformers than those on the top of light poles but they still have the problem of squirrels and snakes getting in them and blowing them up. The town my sister lives in has the wires underground and that is how they did the transformers there.

Brother, you're right. I have a transformer in my back yard and it's very large. I couldn't even guess how much that monster would weigh. It's on a concrete pad and is surrounded by a heavy metal box that is padlocked. It's directly on the ground, so I assume they had to use sufficient safety measures that humans and animals wouldn't be harmed. I guess that anything is possible, but it appears the box is completely sealed and I assume even waterproof. I asked a lot of questions many years ago when we bought the home and had children. They told me it would take a professional with a cutting torch or the authorized personnel with keys and the knowledge of how to open the box.

Anything is possible, but I'll guess that either another utility dug in the wrong place or a citizen dug in the wrong place. I think the wiring is encased and has to be a minimum of 36 inches deep. It would probably be an unpleasant and expensive situation to cut a conduit, but maybe less expensive than cutting one of the new fiber optic cables of the phone company. I understand they can charge you thousands of dollars for cutting one of the fiber optic cables. The last big problem we had in our own yard is the local cable company shooting a television cable through our sewer line.   ;D   YES - they have some sort of high-pressure device that shoots their utility cable an unknown distance underground. They shot it dead-center through our sewer line and ruined it. They were at least 24 inches off from their authorized location. The funny part started after my plumber cut their cable trying to fix my sewer line. They threatened to make me pay for it.  Needless to say, I'm not an easy guy to run over and they paid for a new sewer line for me. These kinds of problems aren't uncommon for underground utilities and many people do get taken advantage of. All I can say is you must have licensed and authorized people to do things, and all problems must be documented, measured, and photographed. "Do it yourself" is out of the question, and proper authorizations must be sought from all utilities before any work is done. Otherwise, the costs could be way up in the thousands of dollars for making a mistake.

The metal box with a padlock is a great idea. They just have cyclone fences around them here. As many years as I worked in the construction/industrial field I was fortunate to never cut through any utilities. I'm sure that  God was with me. Of course I was always careful to call "Julie" to get the utilities marked before I started digging also. Julie is a hotline number for people to call to get the utilities marked.

I feel like a foreigner in my own home town!  I went downtown on my way to work today to pick up a couple of things.  Some of the streets were blocked off for a parade, I found out.  It was packed with people everywhere!  I finally figured out it was a "Gay Pride" parade by the types of people that I kept seeing.  I had no idea we had so many here!  They all came out of the closet to enjoy the 90 degree weather I guess!

I know Blackeyespeas will say that we ARE foreigners here, but for Pete's sake....when I was a kid the worst we ever saw was some long-haired hippies hanging around the UW!  I wouldn't take my grandkids downtown on a day like today for nothin'!  It just makes my heart sick to see blatant perversion up your face!
Now I was no angel before I got saved, believe me...I've seen quite a bit of the real world and have been IN the real world and places I'd never like to be again, but it's different once you're saved and have a relationship with the Lord.  The world just breaks your heart and some things just make me sick to my stomach.

Hello GrammyLuv and All,

I'm sure that many people in that gay pride parade came from other places. They always inflate the numbers, and you don't have that many living there. I just hope that you didn't have to put up with the filth and obscenity that happened in San Francisco. I know there are many still trying to pursue criminal charges for nudity and obscene sexual acts in public. I hope that those pursuing criminal charges are determined enough to get it done, regardless of where the charges are eventually filed. These acts happened in front of police officers and other city officials - AND nothing was done. In fact, the same officials have refused to do anything with videos and citizens demanding that the law be enforced. Sooner or later, the people can FORCE the issues and DEMAND that the laws be enforced. If they are determined enough, responsible officials will face civil and criminal consequences. I would think and hope there are still plenty of people everywhere with the determination to SEE something like this through to the END. We don't live in a jungle yet, and people aren't allowed to act like apes yet. We still have the rule of law, and we should never give that up. Everything moral and decent we have left rests on the rule of LAW and due process. In all reality, this is currently slowing the devil down.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hey Guys!  You're cracking me up!

I was off of work for a couple of days with some kind of intestinal thing.  Much better now and am enjoying my regular two days of my grandkids!  Thinking of taking them to a movie this afternoon.  That Panda one maybe?  If you all remember my car broke down right after I took the job at the mission in November, but my daughter is sweet and is letting us use her car today.  May run out and see my mother also.  They just remodeled their kitchen and has been wanting me to see it!  Also the kids want to see Grammy's new apt. so we will run out there also and then do some other errands that aren't quite as convenient on the bus!
I'm saying all that to explain why I haven't been here lately.  I've got cable at the new place, but still have to get the internet hooked up!

Wanna know a little secret?  Grammy had a lunch "date" yesterday!  The ball game one never panned out, but I met a fella that volunteers at the men's mission a couple of months ago and then we ran into each other a couple of weeks ago and decided to have lunch.  Who knows?  Maybe!  I'll make sure he checks in with you all before it goes to far though!  Tee hee!

Hello my Friends.  I'm seeking prayer here today.  I'm just not feeling well at all.  I'm thinking the "move" really took it out of me.  I missed two days of work last week and although I went to work today, I had to turn right around and leave.  In fact one of my supervisors took one look at me and pulled the neck of her shirt up over her mouth and nose! (She's a real a crack up anyway!)
I was supposed to have my two youngest grandkids overnight tomorrow and I'm going to have to miss that.  I'm supposed to go to a concert on Friday night with my oldest daughter to see someone I have wanted to see for 5 years.  So I'm really asking for some prayer.  I feel just lousy.
I'm normally pretty healthy and active and I don't think this is anything more than a nasty summer cold/flu thingy, but still pray that it passes and gets on it's way quickly!
Thanks guys.  I'm going back to bed.  :P

In Christ,
Grammluv

I'm sorry to hear about you feeling bad. You will be in my prayers. Take care of yourself and don't end up in the hospital. If you don't get to feeling better in a couple of days, please go ahead and call Dr. Moe, Dr. Larry, and Dr. Curley.

I try to read a Proverb a day and just go around every month.  Well this morning after reading Proverb 13 I laid my Bible aside and when I came back to it (on my deck!) the pages had turned to Amos 5:21, or at least that is where my eyes rested.  So I read from there through the end of Chapter 6.  Wow!  Was it powerful for these end times!  God really uses some strong language in those passages.
So if anyone is of a mind to read that today, I would encourage you and share with me if it struck you as powerful as it did me this morning.  :o

God Bless!

I think that Bible history is fascinating. I've been sick the last several days and haven't felt like doing much, but I did do some Bible Study. Pastor Roger made a fascinating post the other day that addressed Old Testament Prophecy fulfilled in the New Testament. It even gave New Testament comparisons and mainly dealt with the life, ministry, and crucifixion of CHRIST. We should know there is a big reason for EVERYTHING recorded in the Holy Bible. There is MUCH that is already PROVEN TRUTH beyond any reasonable doubt, so it's only reasonable to believe that the rest of Prophecy yet to be fulfilled is also complete TRUTH!

GrammyLuv, I haven't read Amos recently, but your comments have convinced me that it's time again. It's more than fascinating to see how the Bible is woven together.

Tom

I'm having one of my discouraged days I guess.  The mission sits in the heart of China Town in Seattle.  It is also the Crack Mecca of our city.  One cannot go out the front door without witnessing one and most times, several of the lost smoking the stuff or dealing it in broad daylight.  The world, (drugs, politics, murders, rapes, recession, famines, wars, street violence, homosexuality, etc) is going down so fast that I don't even know what to pray or how to pray anymore.  I try and then I'm overwhelmed and at a loss for words.  I end up just admitting that I'm selfish and just want my family members to get saved and then for the Lord to hurry up and come get us!  That makes me feel terrible because there is still so much work to be done.  We just heard that our mission budget is really hurting as is everything else because of the gas prices and whatever else which I can only blame my government for.  I know that we serve a big God and He will provide for His causes, but from a human standpoint it is so discouraging.  There's that word again.
Well, on the brighter side, I DID get to witness to a lost man while I was waiting at the bus stop today.  He said he was tired of living his dismal life.  I told him the way out and that it was there for the asking when he wanted it!

A ray of hope in a dark world. Even though you may not see the results yourself be assured that your work is not in vain. Keep in mind who is holding the rod and staff that comforts.

It is never selfish to want our family members to be saved. That is being concerned for their well being not just your own. On occasion we must put our priorities in line and when we do that our families do come toward the top of that list.

Hello GrammyLuv,

I think that you're doing exactly what GOD wants you to do. There's nothing wrong at all about worrying about your friends and family members first. GOD would expect you to. You're also not Super-Human, so you have to rest sometimes and also take care of yourself. You were taking about the brighter side in being given the opportunity to witness to someone desperate. So, GOD gave you a shot in the arm pretty quickly. Smile and know that GOD never wastes HIS WORD. It never returns void. Sister, we can only do so much, and we must trust GOD for the rest. I think that all Christians are having the same problems in trying to stay positive. We see what's happening all around us, and there's only so much that we can do about it. Prayer is one of our biggest tools. We must spend daily time in feeding our own spirit. I'm convinced that generates part of our strength and prayer does the rest. If you wear yourself completely out and end up in the hospital, you won't be able to do nearly as much. So, please take care of yourself also.

Love In Christ,
Tom

I have mentioned before that I try to read a Proverb a day.  It's amazing how the Bible truly is a living thing.  What a person reads in one season or month or week and gets out of it can be quite different the next.  Today was Prov. 21 and it was packed with stuff for me.

Prov 21:1 - Just as water is turned into irrigation ditches, so the Lord directs the king's thoughts.  He turns them wherever He wants to. (The Way)

This was significant to me this morning because of the times we live in.  The Bible also says that God will harden the hearts of many and we also know that he softens the hearts of others toward Him.  Well why does He do this?  To complete His purposes.  God already knows the heart of each and every man, woman and child.  He already knows the ones that will turn to Him and those that won't.  He can use both to complete His plans.  That is what He is doing right now, with our government, the U.N. and all governments of the nations.  You can see where I'm going with this so I won't expound further.

Prov. 21:18 - The wicked will finally lose; the righteous will finally win.

Well that's self explanatory isn't it.  And so is the next:

Prov21:31 - Go ahead and prepare for the conflict, but victory comes from God.

WhooHoo!  I believe that we are totally in the "birthing pains" of these end times.  I know that for me, because the world is so painful to watch, that it is exactly what is going on.  But praise and glory to God because He and we, have already won!

And then a note in reference to how I was feeling a couple of days ago:

Prov 21:21 - The man who tries to be good, loving and kind finds life, righteousness and honor.

Did you see the word "tries"?  What a comfort.  All I have to do is "try".  God, just like our own parents, just wants us to try our best.  We won't always succeed, and maybe we hardly ever will, but all we have to do is try.  Reminds me of what Paul said also: "That that I want to do I do not do, but what I don't want to do, that I do. (my paraphase, but I think I'm pretty darn close!)  It also reminds me of that old saying that we all grew up with: "If at first you don't succeed, try try again!)  Look at how many tries we get!  Hallelujah!

Actually all of these verses fits how I was feeling the other day.  It wasn't so much that I felt bad about what I was feeling as I was feeling a bit hopeless about not knowing how to pray for this world and what is going on.  It's too big.  However these words gave me hope and encouragement this morning.  I hope that it helps someone else today too!

Peace and love,
Grammyluv  ;D

Sister, I did some more looking on this subject. You may not need this information now but I thought it interesting anyway. The Jerusalem area is only referred to as the Holy Land once in the Bible but Jerusalem is called the Holy City 10 different times. The first is:

Neh 11:1  And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.

Israel is also called the divine gift in the Old Testament and in the Jerusalem Talmud.

Well I did it.  I had cable hooked up a month ago when I moved into my place and I called this morning and had them unhook it.  Just can't afford it.  $59 + fees and taxes for a bunch of garbage just isn't worth it.  And with the economy the way it is,well......
When the man asked me why, I told him.  And when he agreed, I told him to writh is senator.  I did!
Maybe when these big companies start losing the bucks they can scream louder than I can.

I can understand that. I'm getting my cable unhooked also, including the internet. I'm going back to DSL which is almost as fast now and leaving the TV off. I can get the weather and news on the internet and radio.

I hope that guy does write his Senator and Representative.

Well, I off to "Grace" training for the next two days.  Before you go thinking that it's some kind of charm school, which I'm probably in sore need of  ;D, it's actually about the grace that Jesus gives us and how we can apply that grace to the women and children that come through our mission!  The guys that do this, come every year and indeed travel the country doing these trainings.and  This is the first time I get to go as an employee of the mission!  I've heard so many great things about it and I know that everyone waits for this all year so I'm very excited!

Gotta run!

Hello Grammyluv,

Sister, it sounds like you have the makings of a wonderful day, and I pray that it is. I envy you in being able to attend because the subject matter is of the greatest importance. Please try to take good notes and share some with us when you get back. The GRACE and LOVE of GOD are working in mighty ways, but we already know that GOD has told us  his patience will end one day. That day might be soon.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Again, this morning for lack of a better place to put this and not wanting to start another thread just for it, I'm putting my mornings reading here.  I wanted to post it because there is so much in this that applies to us and to our government today.....

Proverbs 28
1 The wicked run away when no one is chasing them,
but the godly are as bold as lions.

2 When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily.
But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.

3 A poor person who oppresses the poor
is like a pounding rain that destroys the crops.

 4 To reject the law is to praise the wicked;
to obey the law is to fight them.

5 Evil people don’t understand justice,
but those who follow the Lord understand completely.

6 Better to be poor and honest
than to be dishonest and rich.

 7 Young people who obey the law are wise;
those with wild friends bring shame to their parents.[a]

8 Income from charging high interest rates
will end up in the pocket of someone who is kind to the poor.

 9 God detests the prayers
of a person who ignores the law.

10 Those who lead good people along an evil path
will fall into their own trap,
but the honest will inherit good things.

11 Rich people may think they are wise,
but a poor person with discernment can see right through them.

12 When the godly succeed, everyone is glad.
When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding.

13 People who conceal their sins will not prosper,
but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

14 Blessed are those who fear to do wrong,
but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble.

15 A wicked ruler is as dangerous to the poor
as a roaring lion or an attacking bear.

16 A ruler with no understanding will oppress his people,
but one who hates corruption will have a long life.

17 A murderer’s tormented conscience will drive him into the grave.
      Don’t protect him!

18 The blameless will be rescued from harm,
but the crooked will be suddenly destroyed.

19 A hard worker has plenty of food,
but a person who chases fantasies ends up in poverty.

20 The trustworthy person will get a rich reward,
but a person who wants quick riches will get into trouble.

21 Showing partiality is never good,
yet some will do wrong for a mere piece of bread.

22 Greedy people try to get rich quick
but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty.

23 In the end, people appreciate honest criticism
      far more than flattery.

24 Anyone who steals from his father and mother
and says, “What’s wrong with that?”
is no better than a murderer.

 25 Greed causes fighting;
trusting the Lord leads to prosperity.

26 Those who trust their own insight are foolish,
but anyone who walks in wisdom is safe.

27 Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing,
but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed.

28 When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding.
When the wicked meet disaster, the godly flourish.

See how verse 7 has the letter "a" in brackets? Well verse 14 has the letter"b" in brackets just behind the word "wrong,". The forum software recognizes that as the bold function so instead of displaying it as it did the [a] it hid it and put everything behind it in bold letters. If you click on the modify button for that post you can see what I'm talking about.

However I think the bold lettering is quite fitting with what we are seeing with our economy today.

Just a note: I'm going to be MIA over the next 3 days.  I'm going to Oregon with my mom to see my son whom I haven't seen in 6 years! He just got out of the Navy, as I've already mentioned before.  I'm so excited!  We are leaving bright and early tomorrow morning and coming back on Friday, but then I have to work Friday night.  Not sure if I'll be up early enough to post on Saturday before returning to work so it might be Sunday before I get back on.
Be blessed and I'll miss ya!

I'm baaaaaack!  And ready to get political again!  Wow,  can't believe all the news just in the past 3 days!  Things are happening faster than I can read about it what with the ACORN scandal and all.  I'm sure there is alot more gonna happen with the votes before it's all over with.  I was telling my mom that the dems will cheat this guy into office and try anything and look what happened.

I had a wonderful trip.  My son is more handsome than ever!  We had a great visit and then we also saw my mom's sister, my very favorite Aunt Shirley and my favortie cousin, Cheri.  Cheri and I were pretty close when were kids being only 1 month apart.  And man, is she funny!   We all laughed so hard in the short time we had to visit.
I got back yesterday around noon and then had to be to work by 3pm.  You'd think I'd be tried from driving back from Oregon but I was so energized just from having gotten out of town and having had such a good time!  My shift flew by!
Well let me get to some other threads and see what's been going on around here!
In Christ,
Yvette

Reminds me of scene in a movie where a little girl is walking down the street to sell some cookies and a little boy pops out with a toy gun and says, "Pow Pow Pow!"  The little girl leaves the toy gun in the boy's hands but turns it around and sticks the barrel in his mouth and says, "You'd be doing the neighborhood a favor."  And then she walks on.  ;D

Hello Grammyluv,

It's great to have you back, and it makes me happy to know that you had such a good time. We missed you.

I'm hoping that you won't need that rocket launcher, at least here.   ;D

YES - We've had some wild news over the last few days. From a perspective of just a few years ago, it would have been impossible to dream that things like this would happen. Even the best possible outcomes are not very pretty. ROUGH days are ahead regardless of what happens in the election. NOW - this is just speaking about what's happening in this little part of the world. The BIG PICTURE for the entire world is UGLY! We are looking at many NASTY GLOBAL problems, and Al Gore's WARMING is NOT one of them. Let's just call it a GLOBAL POWDER KEG with the fuse lit.

As Christians, we have better and more pleasant things to think about. The conditions of the world are getting horrible, BUT this world isn't our home. Nobody knows how much longer Christians will be here. Regardless, we have wonderful and beautiful Promises of GOD to think about and look forward to. Brothers and Sisters, this is exactly what Christians should be doing. We need to continue the work that GOD has given us to do and anxiously await the GLORIOUS APPEARANCE of our LORD and SAVIOUR to RAPTURE us HOME to GLORY! Our work should be done in JOY for HIM. People are still accepting JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOUR, so there will be important work for us to do until the last minute. May GOD help us finish our course, finish our race, fight a good fight, and one day hopefully hear "Well done good and faithful servant." Our JOY can be more FULL, even in this short life, if we yield for GOD to use us however HE Will. YES, there can be JOY and THANKSGIVING in the midst of a BATTLE.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Christian Quotes 1 - "No where in the scripture has God ever assured
anyone, baptized or not, of a carefree, no conflict existence... When
(not if) the trials come, we can be certain that they will reveal our
courage, call, commitment and convictions... Regardless of how
disheartening the difficulties can be, they should not send us into a
tailspin. Rather, they should bring out the best in the believer. They
can, if played correctly, bring us back to the biblical basics of
faith, hope and love." -- Doug Giles

About Mars Hill Church (from post in Announcements)

Mars Hill Church is a non-denominational church that meets in seven different locations throughout the Seattle area, with twenty weekly services broadcast via satellite from the flagship campus. In 2008, Outreach magazine named Mars Hill Church the second-most innovative church in America. The church began in 1996 as a small Bible study in the home of founding pastor Mark Driscoll. Today, over seven thousand people attend Mars Hill on a weekly basis, with millions more accessing free sermons, music, and other resources through the church's extensive Internet library. To learn more about the ministry of Mars Hill Church visit www.marshillchurch.org.

I have been to this church, or rather one of the satalites.  They started out wanting to reach people on the street and I believe still have a street ministry.  It is amazing how they have grown.  It was hard for me however getting used to watching the pastor, amazing though he is, on a screen each Sunday.  However, he is a real down to earth kind of a guy and it's refreshing how he talks about the love he has for his wife who he met in high school and knew instantly that he was going to marry her!  I think they've been married for "around" 20 years now!
You think of a church of 7000 and it sounds overwhelming.  I'm a small church kind of gal.  But when they are broken up into several chruch locations and two services each, it brings it back down to a more comfortable size.
Maybe I'll have to check them out again.  ;D

I really need your prayers for God's guidance and direction and of course this hard-headed, hard of hearing (not my ears; my perception and discernment) needs the Lord to speak loud and clear!  I know that I can always count on you guys for this and indeed I do count on you for this.  I have some major dicisions to make.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family.  I did!  Oh my goodness do we have fun cracking up over games and fellowship.  We are quite a group I can tell ya!

Hello!  And Merry Christmas!  I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas' with family and friends.  I am so glad to be home!
We got a bunch more snow here and rather than risk falling, since I get off late at night, I spent two nights at the mission then worked a double shift on Monday.  My daughter picked me up on Tues and I spent two nights with her and the grandkids and got home yesterday afternoon.  I couldn't stand my place so I did some major cleaning and the laundry so that I could enjoy my extra day off today, which will consist of laying around and watching movies and listening to the peace and quiet.  WhooHoo.
The kids were so cute and I got some really good pictures.  I used up a whole camera!  I have to confess that Grammy was excited too and in fact was the first one up on Christmas Day.  I waited about an hour until I'd had my coffee and then I couldn't stand it so I went and woke up the kids!  ;D ;D ;D  Mommy had said that if they got up before them that they could get into their stockings so that's what we did and I took pictures so that my daughter wouldn't miss it.
I hope you all had as much fun as I did!

I've been a target before and JUST have been again. We had a ball with the kids. My youngest boy is working on 2 now and has all the attitudes and actions RIGHT already. He won't be 2 until April, but he can already run and get into everything. I took over 100 pictures and just got them on the computer to fine-tune. The three grandsons had considerable help this year when my 27 year-old son joined forces with them. They were an impressive force - Nerf Guns and all.

I'll just say that I'm home, almost in one piece, and I hope to get rested up a little.

Love In Christ,

 ;D   ;D    ROFL!

Literally, I would have been a sitting duck. As it turned out, the three grandsons took on my 27 year old son, and he LOST.

I thought about getting them marshmallow guns that I've seen advertised. I decided against that for fear that they would get dirty and the baby might eat one of them. I now realize this was a very naive thought since I forgot there is no way to keep an active almost two year old from putting all kinds of things in their mouths. By the way, he's a hoss of a boy and ate everything in sight. In fact, he was an eating, drinking, and diaper-fixing machine that was non-stop except when he slept.   ;D

Hello Grammyluv! I am new here. I read your post and I find it sweet that you love your grandchildren very much! It reminds me of my grandmother. She always takes us all grandchildren to church and we pray the rosary together. Sadly, she passed away a few years ago. However, I know she is at peace now! God bless you and your family.

Hello Grammyluv,

I've welcomed you back in several other threads, but I want to in this thread also.

YEAH! - YOU'RE BACK!

I think that most folks are in shock with all the weird things happening in this world. As Christians, we have a sure HOPE that we can trust completely that's NOT of this world. OUR HOPE AND LIFE IS IN CHRIST!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Philippians 1:19-23 ASV  19  For I know that this shall turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,  20  according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be put to shame, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.  21  For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.  22  But if to live in the flesh, - if this shall bring fruit from my work, then what I shall choose I know not.  23  But I am in a strait betwixt the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ; for it is very far better:

Colossians 1:24-29 ASV  Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church;  25  whereof I was made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which was given me to you-ward, to fulfil the word of God,  26  even the mystery which hath been hid for ages and generations: but now hath it been manifested to his saints,  27  to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:  28  whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ;  29  whereunto I labor also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 ASV  2  We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;  3  remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

2 Thessalonians 2:15-17 ASV  15  So then, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye were taught, whether by word, or by epistle of ours.  16  Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,  17  comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

1 Timothy 1:1 ASV  Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and Christ Jesus our hope;

Titus 2:11-15 ASV  For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men,  12  instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world;  13  looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;  14  who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.  15  These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

1 Peter 1:3-5 ASV  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  4  unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,  5  who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:17-25 ASV  And if ye call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to each man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear:  18  knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers;  19  but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, even the blood of Christ:  20  who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was manifested at the end of times for your sake,  21  who through him are believers in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.  22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently:  23  having been begotten again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which liveth and abideth.  24  For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth:  25  But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you.

1 Peter 3:13-17 ASV  And who is he that will harm you, if ye be zealous of that which is good?  14  But even if ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed are ye: and fear not their fear, neither be troubled;  15  but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: being ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear:  16  having a good conscience; that, wherein ye are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ.  17  For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that ye suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing.

Hello DreamWeaver,

 ;D   Brother Bob, I feared something like that.   ;D   ;D   ;D

As Costello would say, "You've been a BaaaaaaddD Boy".

I just wanted to remind you of a day when Grammyluv was in a real good mood and we took this picture:

You sure know how to make a gal smile and feel loved!

Well you might have seen a bird fly, ...you might have seen a horsefly...you may even have seen a donky fly if you've ever watched Shrek...but you've never seen a Grammyluv fly but that is exactly what I did this morning...right off of a ladder!  I was trying to do some touch up painting in the corners of my new bedroom and I guess I forgot that I was on a ladder.  I stepped right off it backwards and found nothing but air!  Now I've got a terribly swollen, bruised and sprained foot!  I'm getting around on crutches when I have to get up, otherwise I'm laying in bed with my foot throbbing, wrapped and elevated per doctors orders.  What a dummy.  Who forgets that they are up on a ladder?  Good grief!
My daughter is taking real good care of me except that she thinks I may need to go straight from here into the nursing home after the year is up!  ;D ;D ;D
Right now she is making a trip to the grocery store and I have my order in for some kind of icecream with caramel in it!  After all, icecream cures anything, right?   ;D ;D ;D
Just stopped in to tell ya all the score and now I'm heading back to my Grammyluv bed.....

Just stopping in with an update real quick because I'm supposed to stay off of my foot and keep it elevated.  The doctor called this morning with the results of the xrays.  Turns out that it is broken.  She just put a half cast on so that I can get it off and on.  The break is such that everything is in line so I just have to keep it that way so it will heal nice and straight.  I'll be off of work for a week since I'm supposed to stay off of it as much as possible then in a week I'll go in for another xray to make sure that it's still in place.  Once it's healing I can put the brace back on which will hold it in place still but is a lot softer.
Matias told his mom this morning that he didn't want his grammy to be broken and old.  He just wanted his grammy to stay the way that she was!  I guess to him 'broken' means 'old'.   Little stink pot!  The kids have been really good though in waiting on Grammy and stopping by my room to see how I am.
Well back to my old grammy bed for now....

Hello Grammyluv,

Sister, I'm sorry to hear about your injury, and I will be praying for you. I've been there and done that more than once, and I didn't like it at all. Please do exactly what the doctor tells you. Trust me, you don't want to make the break worse. There's a network of tiny bones in the foot that many times require surgery if they need to be set. SO, give thanks and know that GOD took care of you. Your grandson helping you will be good for both of you. You can thank him, but also tell him that GOD appreciates it when he helps LITTLE OLD LADIES.    ;D  (Small Print: I couldn't help myself.)

Love In Christ,
Tom

2 Timothy 3:12-17 NASB  12  Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.  13  But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.  14  You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,  15  and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  16  All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;  17  so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

Thanks for the prayers guys!  And the 'Old" jokes.  I wouldn't expect anything less you!   ;D ;D
I had a much better night last night and got some good sleep.  Good thing too because we moved the birthday up to today!  One of our family members is going to bring me a thermos that they aren't using so that I can get some coffee upstairs to my room.  I haven't had any in the last two days and I sure do miss it!
No time to post anything today.  The kids are up and excited about the fun ahead and I think I hear my son-in-law in the shower.  I'm going to try and get my room picked up as some that are coming haven't seen the new place yet.
God bless you all!

Have fun, but please be careful. I just consulted with Dr. Moe, Dr. Larry, and Dr. Curly. They told me the break was in a bad place, and they would have to give you a peg leg and a parrot if you broke it any worse. I saw their doctor kit, and all it contained was a saw, a hammer, a chisel, and some TNT. They still make house calls, but they're almost like the Maytag repairmen when folks know they're in the general vicinity. Nothing breaks at all, and everyone's health improves dramatically.

I really don't think that you want to see them, so be good and take care of yourself. However, you might want to try Abdul's Cactus Remedy for general ailments.

I'm having a hard time remembering the specifics of that episode, but I do think that it was multi-purpose. I was just thinking how simple things were back in the 50s and how easy it was to be entertained without anything dirty - and most of the time without a television. Those were the days when we had to be real careful with electric bills and everything else. A load of topsoil drew every kid in the neighborhood. I was also thinking that many teens had never even heard of things they are trying to force on pre-school children now (i.e. weird and dirty stuff). The vast majority of children were simply allowed to be children and not burdened-down with the STRANGE and SINFUL problems of the world. It was a major problem just to be chewing gum in school, and the teachers never had a thought of exposing the children to anything dirty. In fact, they were supposed to be good role models for the children on duty and off duty 24/7.

That was a nice, but small trip down memory lane to better times.

You guys never fail to crack me up and I enjoyed the trip down memory lane when things were much more simple and made much more sense!
Well I'm on day 7 with a broken foot and I'm bored out of my mind!  I'm getting around a lot better today and with a lot less pain.  I will be going back to work on Saturday!  I sure miss it there.  It's been nice having all this time with my grandson though and I did manage to do some sewing.
My daughter got a new job and started on Monday.  Her birthday is tomorrow.  28 years!  Wow.  Where does the time go?  And that's my baby!  My oldest turned 35 last month!  Whew!  Of course I started having babies when I was just a baby myself so I'm still not OLD!
Well let me get some posting done and see what's been going on around here.... ;D

Yep.  Ya got me good.  Good thing I was sitting down!

Went and had another xray on the foot yesterday.  Doc says everything is the same.  No change.  But she said that was a good thing, since it hasn't moved I don't have to see the orthopedist.  It's just going to take time.  I'm going back to work today with my crutches and we'll see how that goes.  I'm excited though because I am so bored that I can hardly stand it!  It will be good to see the ladies and catch up on their lives and what has been going on.  ;D

Hello Sister Yvette,

You are doing important work, and I understand what it's like missing work for GOD that gives you satisfaction. I know your work isn't easy, but it does appear that GOD has sent you. Please do be careful with that foot and know that we will be praying for you.

Love in Christ,

Thank you Brother Tom and I do appreciate those prayers.  I just finished my first week back to work and I'm none the worse for the wear and tear.  I got such a warm reception from clients and coworkers and it felt good to feel productive.
I also had a doctor's appt yesterday and I will be on crutches for at least another two weeks as the bone hasn't started to knit itself back together yet.  The pain is really nothing now and I can control that with ibuprophen.  I did develope another minor complication though and that is a pinched nerve in my right arm, probably caused by the crutches.  The doctor gave me some muscle relaxers and suggested that I wrap the arms of the crutches with towels or something to give it some extra padding.
All in all, I feel great!  We've got a little sun shining in the windows here in Seattle this morning and I'm looking forward to spending the day with my grandson.  I told him that we going to be "The Pirates That Don't Do Anything" today (Veggie Tales) and lay around in our jammies and watch movies and play with our Nintendo DS'.  Yes folks, Grammyluv has her own Ninetendo DS and games to go with it!
God Bless you all!
Yvette

Now that sounds like a very productive day to me. One that I wish I were enjoying right now. I think that I am busier right now than I was before I retired.

I'm sorry to hear those bones aren't knitting back together yet. I think they've had enough relaxing days and need to get their work done.  ;)

Hello Grammyluv,

I just consulted Dr. Moe, Dr. Larry, and Dr. Curley about that foot. They said take some extra calcium, wear a concrete shoe, and take two aspirins.   ;D   Dr. Curley did mention something about TNT, but Dr. Moe put his head in a vice and told him to be quiet.

All kidding aside, you might need some extra calcium. In the meantime, we'll be praying for you.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hebrews 4:12-16 ASV  12  For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.  13  And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.  14  Having then a great high priest, who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  15  For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  16  Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need.

;D   I just call mine an "old guy" nap, but maybe that isn't politically correct in this day and age. Maybe we should call it a "youth-challenged" or "youth-deprived" nap. UM? - I don't know - that might still be politically incorrect. One would be probably laying down for the nap, so maybe we could call it a "vertically challenged" opportunity. YES - this is it and I'm stickin' to it.

I think "vertically challenged" fits me best these days because I'm definately not old!  Although my grandson told his mommy in private that he didn't want his grammy to be "broken and old"!  I guess he equates broken with old since I can't get down on the floor and play with him.  Well, actually I could get down,....I'm just not sure about getting UP!

Maybe we just need Tim the Tool-man to design some rocket propelled portable propulsion devices for us. I'm remembering a device he made to help his grandmother get out of her recliner. He used a v8 engine which was slightly more than he needed for the task and described grandma sailing through the air grabbing at doilies. I doubt that he needed to use jet fuel, but you know Tim.   ;D

I can't remember that episode, or maybe I missed it, but I can just imagine. A "Tim the Tool-man" riding mower with a rapidly revolving blade would not be pretty.   ;D

Let's just say that railroad ties didn't stand a chance and neither did the tool shed.

;D  If you have a hitch in your get-along, I'm positive that Tim the Tool Man could make a variety of devices to help you. First, you might need some permits from the EPA. Second, your get-along could be easily broken. Third, you might expect additional breakage. You might need a "work from home" job after seeing Tim the Tool Man. I don't want to even think about a stay in the Tim the Tool Man Hospital.

Hmmm ... adjustable beds and wheelchairs with a dual carb'd v-8 sounds like a minimal requirement of that hospital. Make sure that you sit down on the elevators and use ear plugs before pushing any buttons, too. Those jet engines will get you if you don't. Just ignore the looks of those instruments in the surgical rooms. They're actually all quite harmless. The biggest and most used portion of the hospital is the cast room.

I would want a full-body cast, a helmet, and eye protection just to enter that hospital. However, it would get your mind OFF of all that ails you. You would simply be concentrating on survival. I've heard that the biggest problem in the operating room is all of the miscellaneous body parts at the end of the day and who they might belong to. PUTTING THEM BACK IN OR ON DOES COST EXTRA!

Good Morning!  And God bless all of you!
I had a wonderful 52nd birthday yesterday.  Mostly I rested my foot but when my daughter got home the kids all took me out for Mexican Food and presents!  My little grandson was the first one up yesterday besides me, and was the first one to wish me a happy birthday!  I was so surprised because he still gets confused on what is, "yesterday, tomorrow, etc."!

Sorry for being MIA around here the past week!  We have worked our backsides' off getting moved into the new Women's & Children's Shelter here in Seattle!  We still have much to do but we are up and running and our ladies and kids will be returning on Monday from various other locations!  It has all been A LOT of work but also very exciting and we feel abundantly blessed by God for this fabulous brand new building.  We will be able to serve and minister to twice as many homeless and lost women and have already added 3 more to our number that will be checking in this next week also.  It has been an amazing journey and we have recieved massive help from the men in our men's shelter's, saving us over $7,000 in moving costs and alot of back aches for our staff which consists mostly of women.
Please pray that God will bless this ministry for His good purpose!

In Christ,
Grammyluv

Hello Sister Yvette,

Now I remember you talking about this, but I forgot. Many of us have been sick with the flu, etc., so I think that you had more fun than we did. Get some rest and take care of yourself or you'll come down with the flu too.

I'll holler at you later.  KEEP LOOKING UP!

Hello Brothers and Sisters!

I just wanted to let you all know that I will be MIA from here all week.  I will be at CreationFest NW until Sunday!  Two other staff members from the mission and myself are taking some of our ladies and children and I get to take my two youngest grandkids!  There will be a lot of big name christian bands, lots of speakers including Greg Laurie.  Some of you may know him from his column on World Net Daily.  It is a HUGE campout and thousands of people will be there!  Pray that the Holy Spirit will move over this whole thing and many will come to a saving knowledge of Christ!
See you next week!  (http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x125/luvmarley_bucket/heart-1.gif)

Just wanted to let all know that it may be a week or two before I can spend some real time on here.  As you know I'm in the midst of moving again.  I'm doing a lot of packing and cleaning and hope to move a week from today.  Then I'll have to get internet service after I'm in the new place.  I'm really looking forward to having my own little (studio this time) sanctuary again!  It is only one block from work so easy commute and very easy on gas!
Matias starts Kindergarten in a couple of weeks and it will be harder to see him on a regular basis as I have since he was born, since I work weekends.  Pray that God will make a way for this.
Love you all!  Keep praying for each other and the state of affairs going on around us.

Living with family does have it's advantages but there is nothing like having your own place. When the USS Enterprise was in dry dock I had a small convenience apt. It was just a block over and then up the hill from the Seattle/Bremerton fairy. It was a great little get-a-way from the noise and construction dust on the ship.

Hello Grammyluv,

You and your family will definitely remain in my prayers. You love God, so I'm confident that God will work everything out for good.

Romans 8:28 ASV  And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.

We'll miss you. Please be careful in the move not to hurt yourself. In other words, get some help with the heavy stuff and remember that bowling balls dropped on your feet will hurt.  If you don't have a bowling ball, get one.   ;D

Alrighty then!  I'm back!  It's only been a week but it sure seems longer!  Boy have I missed it here!  I'm all moved in and I love it.  It's only a studio, but it's a pretty good size and the way I have it fixed up, it feels like I'm living in a cabin!  Very cozy.  I have everything I need here and I'm hoping to go through my storage unit and get ride of a bunch of stuff and then maybe I can let it go and save even more money.
I'm only two blocks from work and could walk it, but since I get off late at night I go ahead and drive so no one can follow me.
Well, let me cruise and see what I've been missing!

YEAH!

It is nice to have you back. We missed you. I'm happy to hear that things are working out so well. My wife and I have been just about as displaced as you have for the last week or more with remodeling and repairs being done on our home. We're just now getting settled back in, so we're in the same boat as you are. We are really looking forward to having most of the work done and having some privacy for a change, but most of the workers have been very nice. By the way, two of the workers were our children and they worked very hard for about 4 days. That was definitely a labor of love that we deeply appreciated.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Oh that's right!  I remember you told me in an email that you were having that done!  So what did you have done anyway?  My folks have remodled their home a time or two and just this past week had new windows put in.  It drives my mom nuts while things are torn apart but then it gives her a chance to deep clean everything.  But my mom is the type that does that anyway.  And darn it, she gave me the same disease!  I have to have order to everything, everything in it's place and put back in it's place and CLEAN!  Probably why this government is bugging me so much...it's just plain DIRTY!   ;D ;D ;D

Title: Re: Grammyluv here!

The biggest jobs are having the bathrooms completely redone and repairs to plumbing. The rest was cosmetic (i.e. carpet, flooring in the kitchen and dining room, removal of wall-paper, re-texturing, lots of painting, ceiling fans, and lots of small repairs). These are things that we really needed to do for years. Our kids helped us a lot with things that they could do or we wouldn't have been able to afford it. We also got a lot of the materials and labor on sale from Lowe's. Now is a great time to do things like this because of the poor economy and home improvement stores trying to stay in business. We haven't done windows yet, but we're thinking about that right now. Exterior doors still have to be done, and things like this pay for themselves pretty quickly with energy saving. This is especially true for the windows. They might even have tax credits for some things that save energy. Regardless, you either pay for it in electricity or get energy-efficient windows and doors. It's surprising how much you can save by just re-caulking around windows and doors. It isn't smart to heat and cool the outdoors.   ;D

Regarding the current government, YES - it's dirty, corrupt, and chaotic. It definitely needs to be replaced. Repair is not an option.

Whew!  My computer crashed yesterday and wouldn't even come on!  Panic!  Not only are all my friends on here but I also need it to look for work!  Well the director of the women's mission had said if there was anything that I needed to ask.  Hard to do, but I took her up on it.  I called and asked for a computer, knowing that they have a surplus.  And she gave me one!  PC, Keyboard and all!  I have to give her credit for that.  But I also give glory to God in the first place.
I am thankful.
I also have an interview at noon today with Safeway grocery store.  Please pray for this.  I really need to get back to work.  I have been off for almost a month.
Love to all,
Grammy

Hello Sister Yvette,

I will definitely continue to pray for you every day. I know in my heart that God will lead you in the right path.

I'm sorry to hear about your computer. I have better backups than ever before, but it's still a pain to have to set everything up again. Now I have nearly everything backed up on DVD. It's strange that my wife's laptop refused to turn on just this week. We took it to the shop and they said it would be a couple of days. They called us back the next day and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They pushed the same on button that we pushed and it turned right on the first time. So, maybe we were in the Twilight Zone.   ;D

Love In Christ,
Tom
