Title: Pages load slow
Post by: David_james on September 20, 2007, 07:59:10 PM
I don't know why it took a year to ask but is there a way to make pages load faster? It is all of Christians Unite. All other sites are fast.
Tried fire fox but gave me a headache and was confusing.

I really don't know of a way to do that without going to FireFox.

Hello Brother David,

If you are still using Internet Explorer, that would explain a lot of problems. The newer versions of Internet Explorer is causing problems for tons of folks, including those who know a lot about computers. There are a lot of settings in Internet Explorer that can help the problem, but I find the settings of Internet Explorer to be terribly confusing. The default settings for Internet Explorer are optimized for Microsoft web servers, and most web sites don't use Microsoft servers. A forum is interactive with the user, so there is much more than just displaying a web page. Forums use harmless scripts to work, and Internet Explorer with default settings views some of these scripts as dangerous. As a result, you have to list the site using scripts as "Trusted". Internet Explorer does this automatically for Microsoft sites, but you have to make manual entries for sites other than Microsoft.

One can use the default settings for Firefox, and Firefox will run circles around Internet Explorer. New folks to Firefox don't have to mess with any complicated settings at all. Just set it as the default (main) browser, import your bookmarks, and go. Please don't make the mistake of importing Internet Explorer settings. Don't import anything except your bookmarks. Set the page that will be your "Home Page", and leave the settings of Firefox the way they are. The goal is operating Firefox completely separate and independent from Internet Explorer.

David when I was using IE the same thing was happening to me so I started using Firefox, I know it was hard for me to get used to it at first too, but after the second day I stopped using IE altogether. I will never go back to IE.

Perhaps you should also try defragging the PC and clearing out the cache sometimes that helps my computer when it gets sluggish.

I have my cache set up to empty out every 2 days. When I was using internet explorer, it took forever to load a page. Since I am on dial-up, using firefox with "Ad block Plus" the pages load alot faster. Here is the page on the forum telling about it.

In options under the Advanced section and the General tab you should have the "Use autoscrolling" box checked. If it is still slow then I am not sure what to tell you. If you are using a mouse with a wheel then perhaps it is the mouse settings. Try going to the control panel find the mouse, click on it and look for the wheel tab. Under the wheel tab should be a setting to change how many lines per notch to scroll. I wouldn't know what to tell you if you are using one of those other assisted devices in place of a mouse but I am sure that there should be some sort of setting for them also.
