Title: Adding a Picture
Post by: islandboy on July 14, 2007, 03:28:01 PM
I have a old coffee pot picture I would like to put up in a post on Coffe time. But I can't figure out how to do it. Can you explain the process to me??   I put them on my website all the time, but this is a bit different.

Hello Islandboy,

The first requirement is to have a HOT LINK to a real address on the Internet that is available 24/7, and you've already said that the photo you want to use is on your web site. So, the HOT LINK requirement should already be met.

Step two is determining the URL address to the existing picture you want to use. Example below - don't click it - it won't work:

http://www.tomssite/images/gorilla.jpg

If that was a real address, clicking it should show a picture of a gorilla. BUT, you want the picture to be automatically displayed without the user clicking it. So, you add the image tag and closing image tag. I must exchange two characters so that you can see the example. Just remember that "{" will be replaced with "[" and "}" with "]"

{img}http://www.tomssite/images/gorilla.jpg{/img}

Replace the brackets, and the gorilla picture would be automatically displayed. If you want to center the photograph, do this:

{center}{img}http://www.tomssite/images/gorilla.jpg{/img}{/center}

Just remember that I had to replace the brackets so you could see the examples.

Holler if you have any trouble. There is also an insert image button in the command menu above your message box - bottom row - second from the left - right over the smiley examples. That will enter the image commands, and all you have to do is put your cursor into the center and enter the address to your picture. You can also use the "center" button in the same way by highlighting whatever you want to center and hitting the center button on the top row of commands - 5 spaces left of the "Change Color" function.

I hope this helps.

Love In Christ,
Tom

All this is to complicated for this old-timer. I would like to invite you to go to my website, go to history page, scroll down until you see the coffee pot on lower right side of page. from there you can save the picture to your computer and put it up in Coffee Time. It's an old cowboy's coffee pot that I thought would fit in just fine.

Perhaps a little simpler method would be to use the IMG button function. This button is located in the post window just below the italicized "I" button.

Click on the img button and then paste the url to the picture you want posted. The url can be obtained from your own web site by right clicking on the picture and then clicking properties. The url is listed there.

I.E. the url for your picture is    http://sweedpatch.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/ja2ct202.jpg

I went ahead and posted it for you in the coffee thread along with the picture of the tin pot told about on your web site.
