Title: CacheViewer - Another FREE and Great Firefox Extension
Post by: nChrist on May 14, 2007, 03:32:45 PM
CacheViewer is another tiny extension that opens a new tab in Firefox. It does exactly as the name implies. You actually get to look at a copy of everything going on in the background, so you don't have to wonder about what was going on - you look at what was going on with URLs and all of the associated information.

I got CacheViewer so I could stop and take a look at what's going on in the background anytime I want to. It's all there in a scrolling window and neatly organized. It even has a preview window for pictures that were loaded from the web. Everything that hits your browser is there for you to look at, analyze, store, copy, delete, etc.

If you have a firewall up, many things will never get to your browser. Those things that do get to your browser are captured in the browser cache. It's really nice to check the browser cache for those times that you think that someone is trying to hit your computer with something. You'll have the firewall logs and any other available evidence in the browser cache. SO, I would say that CacheViewer is another great little extension that does exactly what the author says that it will do. On a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best, I would give CacheViewer a 5. If nothing else, it will solve your curiosity about what got into your computer from the Internet AND from where. It's just something very simple that works, so try it.
