Title: FireFTP - Another FREE & Great Extension for Firefox
Post by: nChrist on May 14, 2007, 03:06:40 PM
Brothers and Sisters,

I don't do much with FTP these days, but I do update my web site with FTP and upload family pictures to PhotoBucket with FTP.

SO, I really don't need a great FTP program very often, and I'm certainly not willing to pay money for one. I recently saw FireFTP for Firefox and decided to try it. It's a tiny extension, so I figured it wouldn't work very well or have many features. I was wrong - it's great.

The configuration of FireFTP is so easy that it's hard to believe that it works so well. You can have it up and running in a matter of minutes. I set mine up to simply open a new tab in Firefox. It's FREE, so there isn't anything to lose, and the worst that could happen is it wouldn't work the way you want it to.

I first tried a few things with my web site by FTP, and that was much easier than the way that I used to do things with other programs. I couldn't believe that it worked the first time with no problems. I tried PhotoBucket next, and I've had a lot of trouble getting FTP programs to work on that in the past. In fact, I had to try several FTP programs before I found one that would work. FireFTP worked the first time after spending just a couple of minutes with addresses and passwords. The transfer of family pictures was easier and faster than anything I've tried before, so I think that FireFTP is a winnner.

FireFTP does have a very simple and easy interface with nothing fancy, but I could care less about a fancy interface. All I want is for it to work. If there's anything it won't do, I haven't found it yet. SO, on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best, I give FireFTP a 5.

FireFTP installs like any other Firefox extension, so it takes just a matter of seconds to install. If you don't like it, it will uninstall in a matter of seconds with nothing lost. Try it - I think that you'll like it.
