Title: Clippings - A Firefox Extension
Post by: nChrist on March 18, 2007, 10:45:37 AM
Brothers and Sisters,

I used to use an extension called BBCode until the author abandoned it and didn't update it for newer versions of Firefox. I recently found and tried "Clippings", and it is really better than BBCode.

Clippings is designed to store frequently used snippets of text or code in a very fast context menu. One can put just about anything into it that you want to retrieve quickly, and it simply pastes the stored text or code into a forum message. It's really nice for images, signatures, and other things that you might type in over and over again. It's also great for font schemes and colors that you like to use fairly often and not worry about figuring out the forum codes but once. I use it for favorite phrases and Scriptures formatted and ready to go for the forum with one click.

This extension is tiny, and I know that it barely uses any system resources at all, but it's fast and very easy to use. You can even cateogorize snippets, code, and phrases. I have no idea what the limit is on the number of items it will handle. The limit on BBCode was 10, and I think that Clippings will do well over 100. I have a short name assigned to each snippet or phrase, and a single mouse click pastes the contents whever the cursor is. I highly recommend it as fast, easy, and extremely useful.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Clippings example below:

Thanks be unto GOD for HIS unspeakable GIFT!, JESUS CHRIST, our Lord and Saviour forever!

(There's actually quite a bit of forum code involved in typing the above and pre-formatted phrases like it, so this is a great time saver and very handy.)
