Title: Amy Grant one of your fav. Christian artists or not?
Post by: LJMom on December 01, 2006, 02:04:47 PM
Hey everyone,

Is Amy Grant one of your favorite Christian artists? If not, why not and if so, why so?

Absolutely is.
The older the song, the better, though, as a general rule.

She ceratinly is not one of my favorites, thus, she is a good singer and I enjoy some of her stuff.

Nope.  Don't listen to her.  Because.

I think that she has done tremendous things in changing or opening up a new style of Christian music and Christian music would not be what it is today if it were not for the fact that she has stayed true to her own style and preferences.  On the other hand, I think some of her videos are a bit cheesy. Great singer with a great voice and some really cool songs,  but not perfect...still a sinner.

Amy Grant was one of the first contemporary Christian artists I started listening to after I became a Christian.  I saw her in concert once and her current husband Vince Gill played guitar for her.  It was a great concert.  I love listening to Amy's Christian songs but don't care much for the secular music she does.  I must say that I was a little disappointed when she went mainstream and started performing in venues such as the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.  When I expressed my concerns to a Christian friend he took offense and rebuked me saying that I shouldn't judge her ministry.  Of course I didn't see it that way.  I was only questioning in my mind whether I should continue to buy her albums.  The Lord will judge all of us on how we used the talents and spiritual gifts that He has given to us.  Amy has God-given musical talent no doubt about it.  I still like her but she is far from being one of my favorites.

I enjoy her older songs.  I feel they are very sincere... love El Shaddai.  Am disappointed with her sudden divorce and remarriage.  Am disappointed with her conversion to mainstream (secular) music.  Kathy Traccoli seems to have music that both Christians and mainstream like.  I also have heard her testimony rocks.  Still single, and trusting the Lord.  Heard that she would like to be married, but is secure in her singleness.  I know we're all human, and those of us who are Christians are sinners saved by grace.  I believe in supporting other Christians when their actions and words demonstrate their love for God.
Just my 2 cents worth,
MangoMan
