Title: Wretched Man
Post by: willychuck on October 28, 2006, 11:16:32 PM
Wretched Man

When I say "I love You Lord"
Conviction points within
A selfish, proud, ill-tempered man
I see so much my sin

I struggle just to look to You
The One I call my Lord
Hypocracy screams at me
It's You I have ignored

Yet in my heart I long to be
Close and free and one
As You have always and will be
Together with Your Son

My hope will always be in Him
The message I have heard
Is what You've started, You will finish
It's written in Your word

You have cleansed me from my sin
Unworthy soul am I
I've been washed, His precious blood
And so to You I cry

Remove my stubborn, stone-cold heart
Replace it with another
One that seeks not for it's own
But seeks first for it's Lover

I know You're not through with me
I know You have a plan
To change into the Son's image
This proud, ill-tempered man

So I put my hope in You
And trust as I know how
Looking forward to the cross
I take hold of the plow

And though I stumble and I fall
Sometimes the fool I've played
Your love and grace embraces me
And comforts me You've stayed

Times like this I always need
A place where I can rest
Safe, secure, within Your arms
Like John upon Your breast

It's here I find the grace I need
And strength and mercy too
To open up my heart and soul
And say "Lord, I love You"

Amen Willychuck!

I see this is one of your first posts, so WELCOME!

While reading your poem, I was thinking, "JESUS CHRIST" is our All In All. I don't like to think about what this short life would be like without JESUS CHRIST. On the other side of the coin, I love to think about what Eternity with JESUS CHRIST will be like.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite.

Love In Christ,
Tom
