Title: What TV Show Would You Bring Back
Post by: Bronzesnake on April 20, 2006, 04:40:47 PM
If you could, what TV show that has been cancelled, would you bring back?

I really love the last Star Trek series - Enterprise.
It's not an old show, but, I have been watching it in reruns, but if I could, I would begin production of new episodes right away! I really don't understand how this show got cancelled after a relatively short run fro a Star Trek series. Then again, the original Star Trek was a dismal failure when it first came out, and it was only after another network picked it up for re-runs that the show became wildly popular.

With me, it would be Adam-12. I guess though thats because I appeared on the show. They caught me when I was walking out of a liquor store carring a six-pack of coke, (I was 15.) ;D

DeeDubya ~ you RASCAL!   A child-star in more ways than one!   :D tee hee hee!

I think I would bring back the old classic black-and-whites: "I Love Lucy", "Andy Griffith", "Leave It To Beaver", "Mr. Ed" etc. and also "Little House On The Prairie".  Such good, clean programming.  No one worried about what they were going to see, or what language they would hear.

Blessings ~

I liked little house on the prairie. I wouldn't have minded living that way.

I also liked the Daniel Boone and the Roy Rogers series.

Adam 12 was a good show.  Along with others mentioned.

Get Smart would be one on my list.

Here's my list

Father Knows Best
Leave it To Beaver
I Love Lucy
The Waltons
Little House On The Praire
The Flintstones
The Original Batman
Christy (This was a clean show that was short lived with Kelly Martin and Tyne Daly)
Life Goes On (This show was pretty decent and had the boy with downs syndrome)

Kojack
Hawalli 5 - O These two shows are better than all the crime shows and law and order shows that they show now.

We have that here also. I think it is on satellite and is available through most cable TV networks. It does show a lot of the old yet good shows.

There's a local channel here where I live, it's mostly Christian programing, but during the day they run old shows of the the Loretta Young show, and the Jack Benny show. the rest of the time it's all Christian broadcasting.  :D

I would bring Little House on the Praire, The waltons, Christy and....I think I'm getting to old to remember them now.  ;D

Those shows were great to enjoy as a family.  Now, we can't watch much together at all.  We have tons of DVD's and VHS movies because I buy them when I can instead.

Did anyone see the Office last week?  I outraged by the ending.

My wife and I don't spend hardly anything for entertainment, but we do have a satellite television package. It's hard to find decent programs on regular television these days, but we have quite a few clean channels to choose from on the satellite. There's also news, sports, Christian, and a variety of new channels that are completely clean.

For the folks who like the really old and clean television shows, there's a channel called TVLand that's nothing but the old and clean shows. It's like stepping back in time to the 50s and 60s for programs like "My Three Sons, Father Knows Best, Leave It To Beaver, Bonanza, Dennis The Menace, The Little Rascals, The Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Abbot and Costello, The Lone Ranger, etc., etc." The programs change from time to time, but they are all old and completely clean.

Love in Christ,
Tom

Colossians 1:29 NASB  For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

The Dick Van Dyke Show.
I always laughed at Dick, Laura, Buddy and Sally.
Clean, funny jokes and one-liners as well as prat falls.
Morrey Amsterdam always kept me in stitches.

Did anyone else ever like "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and also "Secret Agent" (with Patrick McGoohan, the British actor)?  When I was a kid, I loved mysteries and the Westerns, too.  I also liked "Rawhide", "Wagon Train".....  Oh, and what about "Dobie Gillis"?  Bob Denver played Maynard G. Krebs on Dobie Gillis and always made me laugh.

I didn't watch The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and only saw a few of the Secret Agent. Now Rawhide, Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Branded, Laredo and many more that I can't remember. Now those were some good shows.   ;) ;D ;D

Oh, yes, I forgot about those other good Westerns!!  Good plots and lots of action, but not extreme violence.

Here in Los Angeles, there is Gene Autry's Western Heritage Museum.   One section of the museum is dedicated to the Old West TV shows and movies....you can even watch some of the old TV Westerns there.  They also have lots of clothing from Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, etc.  It's an interesting museum if you are ever out this way.

Hello Debp,

YES, I remember watching Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. I also remember their work with children and their Christian testimony for CHRIST. In fact, I've heard several beautiful testimonies from Dale Evans over the last several years. I know that Roy went home to be with the LORD some time ago, but I think that Dale is still with us and serving the LORD. Roy and Dale used to do a lot of Christian music in my part of the country. In fact, I think that's how they got started. If you think back, you might remember that they had a singing group on the show pretty frequently. The name of the group was "The Sons of the Pioneers", and they also did a lot of beautiful Christian music. If I remember correctly, the Sons of the Pioneers worked with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans long before and long after the television show.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Matthew 1:23 NASB  "BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which translated means, "GOD WITH US."

I remember a few of the songs by the Sons of the Pioneers. It's easy to remember them as we just got a CD of them for one of my grandsons. "There's A Round-up In The Sky", "Rounded Up In Glory" and one that is great with just about anybody singing it, "The Old Rugged Cross".

Yes, the Sons of the Pioneers were with Roy for many, many years. In fact it was Roy that formed the group before he was even known as Roy Rogers.

I love listening to the Sons of the Pioneers Sing. They have beautiful harmony and a style that makes them unique. I'll say that they were "down-home" type folks who made you comfortable, and you really wanted to hear them sing. Maybe I should have said that they seemed like neighbors and plain folks liked them. Once you've heard them sing, it's hard to ever forget them, and their music will never go out of style.

I don't know how many of the original group are still living. I'm wanting to say that they became popular in the 40s.

I think they were a little bit before my time....but I can remember a little bit about the old Roy Rodgers show.   Yes, I remember seeing Dale and also Roy on TBN many years ago being interviewed about their faith.

Hello Debp,

 ;D   ;D

Is this a nice way of telling us that we are older than dirt? You do know that Pastor Roger and I grew up in difficult times:

1 - Our school books were on stone tablets.

2 - We didn't have any shoes and it snowed year around.

3 - We walked 5 miles to and from school every day.

4 - Up hill - both ways.   ;D   ;D

How about the Cisco Kid, Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autry, and Captain Kangaroo?

lol   ....  Don't forget the two sticks rubbed together to get the fire started.

Roy got his start in the mid to late 30's which is before my time also. He was popular in the 50's when I was still a kid.

 ;D   ;D   Was that 1800s or 1900s?

You're way before my time. We had a fire dispenser on top of a mountain. We just caught burning rocks in a bucket and had all we needed to start fires.

Hello Debp,

Welcome to Christians Unite's Grandparents Club.   ;D

You automatically qualify to take an old person nap anytime you wish.  ;D

I also spent a lot of time outdoors playing while growing up. I don't remember when we finally got a television. After we did get one, we were only allowed to watch certain shows after homework and chores were done.

But I'm not a grandparent!  I have a single calling and never married!  Fooled you, huh?  ;D

But I do mentor a young child that has no grandparents so I kind of know the feeling.  She is a really sweet child.

Thanks for letting me know about the naps!   :)

I've watched the X-Files a few times and won't watch them anymore. The show mocks God in a very direct manner and elevates evil as being more powerful than good. There is nothing and no one that is more powerful than God.
