Title: TEMPORAL LOBES - GOD - BRAIN Post by: orthodox1234 on August 11, 2003, 05:16:42 PM Studies have found that the temporal lobes in the brain have a lot to do w/experincing religious or spiritual experiences.
Currently I have read in chat rooms and forums that an atheist can use this to his advantage. I was thinking about it, and thought maybe this is proof of God more that anything else. Man is in a state of sin, we are degenerated, we are constantly in imperfection and more and more we are sinners that would mean that we have lost our perfection, that also means that we have been separated from God. Man has the ability to choose God, and sin has provided the way to get away from him. So we are sinners lost in this world, from perfection to imperfection we have gone, Adam and Eve at the fall had interaction w/God like me talking on the phone w/my cousin, is it not possible that this part of the brain at some point was used to have full contact w/the divine, that God input this that we may be able to literally contact him or even step into the spiritual at times. What if when as Christians we believe in resurrected bodies that the temporal lobes will actually be what will lead us into the spiritual w/God. What if the devil uses these temporal lobes to fool other humans into believing other spiritual lies. i.e. Islam/Bhuddism/Hinduism/Onenss. I am basing this on my very very limited understanding of the subject I am not a neurotheologian but it makes sense. What if atheists don't believe because of the inaction in the temporal lobes because of the degenaration since the fall???? Hmmmmmmm....remember I am very limitied in my knowledge but I find it very interesting. Tell me what you think of my hypothesis. Here's a link to a book review that explains it in layman's terms: http://nasw.org/finn/brnstrm.html Title: Re:TEMPORAL LOBES - GOD - BRAIN Post by: Petro on August 11, 2003, 11:38:38 PM One will get all kinds of responses to a question like this.
But the scriptures have an answer for all questions, I don't know them all myself, but I will share (what God the Spirit has taught me, about this matter) the scripture which, may give some lite to the question you ask. Why is it people don't or can't seem to ever be able to come to faith in Jesus? They seem to be able to graps faith in all sorts of other things, it can only be , because God, causes a spiritual blindness, which is evidenced by an intellectual blindness to the things of God.(Rom 11:25, Eph 4:18) I will let you read the verses for yourself, I will paraphrase them. The scripturtes are crystal clear this blindness is a result of a willingness to reject the truth of God's word, and hold the truth in unrighteousness (Rom 1:18), they change the truth of God into a lie,(Rom 1:25), professing themselves to be wise, they become as fools (Rom 1:22). For the invisible things of GOD from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Rom 1:20) Obviously, these, whosoever they are, cannot clearly see the truth of the things of God concerning the verse above, BECAUSE they are blinded by the god of this world (2 Cor 4:3-4) and are unable to see the glorious gosple that can save them from their sin. So that the end result, comes when they verbalize their disgust of, and rejection of God, so that they do not want to retain GOD in their knowledge, and at this point God gives them over to a REPROBATE MIND. (Rom 1:28) This is a mind unfit for the knowledge of God or the things of God (whether this has anything to do with "temporal lobes" or not, I have no idea, but it is evident it affects their mind) Such a person, is defined in the next passage; Rom 1 28 .....................God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. These, simply cannot see, anything wrong in anything that is done against the law of God. Have you ever come across anyone like this?? They are all over the place.. Blessings, Petro |
