Title: Mini Mac Post by: Butterflies on December 03, 2005, 09:19:32 AM My dh just got a mini Mac and loves it. I was curious how many other Mac users are on this forum. I am thinking of getting rid of my Dell Inspirin laptop and get a Mac desktop. I never take my laptop anywhere anyhow. The mini mac is only a few inches square, maybe 6 inches. It is fast and easy to use. What do you think?

There are certain advantages to using a Mac Mini. It is efficient for small tasks, but it's nowhere near competitive for those who are serious users of say Photoshop, CS 2, Dreamweaver (not the user here) and a few other programs that the iBook, G4/G5, and Powerbook can handle. So if monetary funds weren't a problem for me, i'd go ahead and get a Powerbook. I have a little iMac that i'm playing with with OS X 10.4.3. Better usability i think. I just surf the web, download pics from digital camera, email, etc. so I don't need anything fancy.
Appreciate your thoughts. I still have my Dell laptop and am not sure what to do with it, sell it or use at backup. Title: Re:Mini Mac Post by: Butterflies on January 08, 2006, 07:59:00 AM Well, I probably will sell it, but since I live overseas, you wouldn't want to hassle with it. sorry I want to offer it to some missionary friends here to see if I get any takers.

I've been a Machead since the 80's...love 'em!!!! The most obvious advantage to the Mac is simply that hackers, worms, viruses etc. can't get a foothold in the OS, so it's basically foolproof from that aspect. You might want to hold on to the Dell though, for one reason.....there are a lot of websites (the interactive ones) that are made to work only with IE and windows... I've encountered a bunch where I'll go through filling out a form only to have one little section that just won't take input, or loses it...and it's all because the coders didn't make a hack to accomodate other browsers or OS's.
