Title: Share your methods of dealing with frustration.
Post by: Kalashnikova on November 30, 2005, 06:51:22 PM

Time out for complaints. I’m in Russia. This country has a specific spiritual, emotional, physical and mental climate. I receive it as it is. I need to find my place. So it’s not the US. But Jesus has sent me here because I can adapt, I can win and I can be successful in Him. While Russia might not have the spiritual climate I like, I can still have it in my life. Russia can’t close my spiritual doors, but my unbelief can
What is it that I can’t change? I can’t change God’s word. I don’t want to change God’s word, because God’s word tells me that I can change anything if I pray and follow the Spirit’s leading. That’s fine by me.
I can’t change the fact that I’ll have trials. But I can change my attitude towards them. God doesn’t permit tests to drive me crazy, but to show me His power and care. I can have a good attitude during a trial. I can’t change the fact that without God, I’m vulnerable, weak and defeated. But I can commit to being with God. I can commit to walking in the spirit and to looking at the world with heaven’s eyes. I can’t change the fact that there is a devil. But I can submit myself unto God, resist the devil and he shall flee. I can’t change the fact that some people can hate me, betray me, ridicule me and fight against me. But I can change what I do about that. I can pray, I can forgive them and I can pay them no attention. I can still have friends from God, because I believe God to give me friends.
I can’t change the fact that sometimes I’ll make mistakes, but I can repent and learn from them. I can’t change the fact that everything will not always go according to my wishes. But I can change my attitude. I can submit to the will of God, I can pray for something to come to pass. I can work it out with the Lord. I can forget about a wish, because God can help me to forget about it. I can’t change God’s seasons, but I can be spiritual and move when God says move. I can’t change the fact that God wants to change me, but I can acknowledge that I need to change and to give Him the opportunity to do by spending devotional time with Him.

I have found that baking you own bread helps.  :D

The process of twisting and hitting and turning the dough seems to alleviate a lot of stress and fustration. 8)

I like to keep goverment official's faces in mind while I'm doing it, because burocracy is a drag, even here in SA.

I like that you have placed your live into the hands of the Almighty.

Isa 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

I will, in the mean time, add you to my prayer list.

Have faith, all good things comes to those that have God as a Saviour.

I pretend I'm at target practice and miss every single time. ;D ;D  Just kidding!  Actually, when I'm frustrated I CAN'T do anything.  So, I pray and look for answers in His Word.   Ah, maybe sometimes that's the only way He can get our full undivided attention.  I find my brothers and sisters here at CU to be a great solace, too.

Hello Kalashnikova...............welcome to CU.  Hope you enjoy your stay here.  God Bless You!

Grace and peace,
cris

Hello Kalashnikova,

I don't think that I've welcomed you yet, so WELCOME!! I've had the flu or some sort of bug the last several days and haven't been on the forum as much as I usually am. I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite. As a missionary in Russia, I'm sure that you have a ton of fascinating stories to tell.

After reading your post, I really think that you already have the best answer. One can never go wrong with patience, prayer, and waiting upon the LORD. However, maybe your question was more related to an immediate response to frustration. That's a big problem for me, one that I pray about often, and I really think it is a big problem for many people. It's hard to do sometimes, but I know it's best not to say anything or do anything when you are angry or upset. Go cool off and pray about things first. I said "best" above, but this should really be a "must" for Christians in the vast majority of situations. If the situation doesn't demand an immediate response, don't respond right then. I'll speak only for myself and say that I've made a fool of myself and gave a poor Christian testimony nearly every time I gave an immediate response when I was angry or upset.

That's my two cents worth. I look forward to reading your messages and having fellowship with you.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Romans 1:16-17 NASB  For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

I am Very Frustrated and Severely Depressed on top of my Severe Disabilities, I haven't been any where for more than a month now.

I am Angry and Mad at the Social Security Administration (SSA), My Social Security Disability Claim was Approved August 22nd, 2005, and I STILL haven't gotten anything from them..

I don't deal good with Depression or Frustrations either. Depression Runs Deep in my Close family, My family was my Father (died 2003) my Mother (Still Alive) and myself, I am an only child, because I was born with a Severe Birth Defect, my mother could now have anymore after I was born, waaaaa, No Sisters or Brothers...

I Trust in Jesus with all my Heart, but, its Very hard when I haven't had any income since the year 2003. So, for now I am Always Tired all the time because I take Three Heavy Sedation Medications Everyday, I take them because they're prescribed to me by my doctor for my Severe Disabilities I have..

Oh, ho hum, boring Life I live...

Hello KristiAnn,

I just wanted you to know that you're not alone in your struggle with disabilities or with the SSA. . . It took me close to three years to finally get my disability.  I had to "prove" that I'm disabled even though my leg is OBVIOUSLY amputated and my vision is all but gone because of diabetic retinopathy.  You will eventually get it, so hold on to the promises of God.  When you can worship God in spite of pain and adversity, it is the deepest worship of all and very pleasing to God.

Hang in there sister!  You're in my prayers.

Blessings -

Brothers and Sisters,

Many Christians live with pain, disabilities, and illness every day, and I'm one of them. I want to state something bluntly, and I hope that it doesn't hurt anyone's feelings, but I honestly feel that it needs to be said. I really hope it helps.

Christians, ESPECIALLY, should not concentrate on negative things and have almost constant pity parties. We have too many other positive things to think about and positive things to do for God if we will yield to His Will and go to work. This is POSITIVE, and it makes a Christian happy to do the LORD'S WORK. KristiAnn, get rid of the negative things and replace them with the things of the LORD. Put away the crying towels and sing praises to the LORD. You and I both know that the LORD has better things for you to do than have a two or three year pity party. Throw the negative stuff out the window, ask the LORD to help you start new, and ask the LORD to fill your life with JOY and strength in HIM. Some of the happiest and most mighty Witnesses for JESUS are sick, disabled, or dying.

KristiAnn, I really hope that you don't get angry because of this post. I love you in Christ and have had many conversations with you. My intentions were and are to help you. Whether you realize it or not, you are surrounding yourself with the negative, and it is obviously making you unhappy and depressed. I just came from your forum, and I noticed a concentration with the negative in your posts, your sig lines, etc. You are doing the same thing here, and I honestly believe that you are letting the negative run your life instead of letting JESUS run your life. Sister, please don't get mad at me for telling you the blunt truth. As a Christian, I felt led to do just this in an effort to help you.

Sister, I firmly believe that Everything does work out for good to those who love GOD! I also know that GOD provides, maybe not everything we want, but what we need. I'm also positive that CHRIST strengthens me. If this post makes you mad, so be it, but at least think about what I tried to tell you. Please don't go down the hill in depression - Go up and climb the hill with JESUS!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Revelation 21:3-4 NASB  And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away."

Philippians 4:19-20 NASB  And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.  Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Isaiah 12:2-3 NASB  "Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation." Therefore you will joyously draw water From the springs of salvation.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NASB  Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

Good Morning BEP,

Your posts are always sensitive and wise.  I doubt that the truth will hurt KristiAnn . . . she may not like it, but the truth is never wrong!  Having a good attitude not only helps me with my trials, but I don't chase people away by being negative all the time.  I have my moments, of course we all do but I discovered - to my utter joy - that I can turn to Jesus and IMMEDIATELY feel better.... no one on earth will ever suffer the way Jesus did!! And who am I to complain anyway?  Everyone has some kind of pain, so why not me?  My pain simply means that I'm alive . . . I'm a survivor . . . and I have a purpose.  God is using me for his glory so I must be special in His eyes.  WE ALL have a purpose and a reason to be thankful every day - look up at the cross.  My cross, your cross and His cross - we are following HIM!  Glory, glory glory!  I would rather serve my Jesus from a wheelchair than have two legs and not know Him.  I live for ETERNITY, not for this short life on earth . . . I'll leave my wheelchair behind and very soon I will see the King!  All of us will!  That alone should be enough to keep a positive outlook!

Keep your chin up sister KristiAnn!  We can serve the Lord mightely and be a living testimony to his grace . . . isn't that an HONOR?  Wow!  I feel blessed!  God chose ME to worship and praise Him! Mere words could never express how grateful I am to Him for what He's done for us.... HE DIED!  The very least we can do is thank and praise Him and be happy with the crosses we bear.  Jesus never whined.

Blessings -

Kristiann, please consider taking Brother BEP's advice, it is Biblical, loving, wise, and careing advice, we all love you dearly, but please understand that almost all of us at this forum have some kind of disability, including myself. I too have been disable for 8 years and I am still way too young to retire if I were able to work. God has provided all my needs, thank God I have not gone to bed hungry, nor have I been without housing. I thank God for every new day because it's another day I can praise Him and thank Him for all He's done for me.
Please let go of the past, and start lookinng towards the future. Please stop feeling sorry for yourself and all you've been through, I know God has been with you all along because, with all you've been through you would not have been able to do it without Him. Obviously He is taking care of you because if you haven't had an income in 2 years you are still with us, still have a place to live, food to eat.
Don't get me wrong Sister, I love all my brothers and sisters in Christ, and that includes you, but you would be amazed at how much better you would feel if you spent half the time you waste complaining and Praised and worshipped God instead, He would be moved. God inhabits the praises of His people, He does not want to hear all the murmuring and grumbling and complaining that He heard from the Isrealites when He delivered them from Egypt.
Ps 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
Ps 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
Ps 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
in just 3 verses look at all the promises we have from God
He will deliver us , set us on high, He will answer us,He will be with us in times of trouble, He will honour us, He will SATISFY us, He will show us His salvation.
I love you in Christ, but I must tell you these thing because of that love.
Please don't be upset, with me.

AMEN TALKERCAT!

I feel the best when I know that God has given me something to do for Him. In fact, I feel extra strength and I'm happy when I'm doing something for the LORD. Perfectly healthy people can get down and depressed if they allow themselves to concentrate on the negative. There is a reason why instructions for Christian living in the Bible are many times accompanied by something like, "that your joy may be more full." Once a Christian has experienced the JOY in JESUS, they want that feeling more often or all of the time.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Romans 11:33 NASB  Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!

Amen Brother. I know that helps me a lot. Some people say I can't help others because I have nothing. I have found that to not be true. A person, no matter how little they may have, can still help others. God provides a way for us to do His work.

After I had my open heart surgery I went without work and any income for a little over two years. My wife was also handicapped and was not able to work so there was no income at all. The Lord provided for us. A home, food on the table and sufficient medical. I have yet to figure out how we paid for the other bills such as utilities and phone. All I can say is that the Lord insured that they were paid, for there is no other explanation.

During that time my wife and I saw so many others that were less fortunate than we were. We were able to help them and it made us feel so good to be able to do things in that manner for the Lord and to trust in Him to take care of us.

AMEN PASTOR ROGER,

Brother, I was just thinking that most of the best gifts that Christians give don't involve money at all. Maybe it was nothing more than a word or act of kindness in a time of great need. AND, the biggest gift is PRAYER. I think that our society many times is focused on money and material things.

I think that many of us have very little in the way of money, but I am positive that GOD has equipped us to give many things that are much more important than money. Love, Care, Compassion, and Prayer are priceless. So, if a Christian's pockets are empty, his or her heart contains the riches of Christ.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Revelation 21:23 NASB  And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Amen Pastor Roger,
First let me start by saying what I do when I'm frustrated, I turn on the TV to a Christian channel, it seems that they always have the right thing I need to hear at the right time, I take notes then I refer to my notes in the Bible. After that I know I am free from frustration when I turn on my Christian music and sing and rejoice in the Lord.
I want to share with you all something along the lines of what PR posted above, I am unable to work, so we live on only one income, and a  VERY small disability check once a month. A family friend of ours, who works with my husband is so amazed, he told my husband that he and his wife had been wondering how my husband and I are able to not just make ends meet but actually be able to live on just my husband's income. This man takes home more money than my husband does, his wife works, and brings home more money than he does, they have only one child, and they pay less rent than we do! He couldn't understand it so he finally asked my husband "How do you and Maria do it, you pay more for housing, your house is much bigger, so your utilities are more expensive, you take home less money, your wife can't work so you live on one income, and you have 2 children, How is that possible?"
My husband was caught of guard, he never expected to be asked such a question, much less to be under such observation, the words just rolled out of his mouth, "It's God, He takes care of it all," then after a few minutes my husband turned to his friend again and said "you know what, I never even thought about that, I guess it's because I have put my trust in God to supply all my needs, I just expect that from my Father." And that is how MY GOD is. HE certainly is our Provider. Glory to His Name. :D
