Title: Sampson and Holyfeild
Post by: Tibby on July 31, 2003, 11:51:55 AM
Sampson did it, the power team did it, Team Extreme does it, Dennis Rogers does it, Evander Holyfeild does it. They all receive (or claim to receive) amazing Strength thru Supernatural means. I know Sampson did it, and I have my doubts about wither or not the Power team were juicers, but is this a biblical, or otherwise a Godly thing, to ask and receive superhuman Strength? God CAN do it, sure, but he can also cause the earth to implode. The question is, will he? Sampson was a judge, he was given his strength for a reason. In a day and age when muscle is for show and sport, will God still grant us superman-like strength? Why or why not?

Sometimes I wonder if my parents wondered about the same thing when they named me :)

Just a humble opinion: I can't imagine one scenario where it would seem reasonable that God would endow someone with superhuman strength, in todays times that is. Maybe in a miraculous sort of way during an emergency, for the purpose of saving a life, maybe... but for the purpose of bench-pressing oodles of weight, tearing up phone books, bending metal rods... hmmm... I don't think so...

Again, just a humble opinion.
