Title: "In God We Trust" Post by: Shammu on October 20, 2005, 05:06:02 PM This is an e-mail, I just got. I am going to start doing this too.
"In God We Trust" WRITE IT ON THE BACK OF YOUR ENVELOPES I couldn't send some of the pictures, but the message is there! WRITE IT ON THE BACK OF YOUR ENVELOPES I THINK THIS A GREAT IDEA. I WILL START WRITING THIS ON FRONT OF ALL MY ENVELOPES, TOO! You may have heard in the news that a couple of Post Offices in Texas have been forced to take down small posters that say "In God We Trust" The law, they say, is being violated. Anyway, I heard proposed on a radio station show, that we should all write "In God We Trust" on the back of all our mail. After all, that is our national motto and it's on all the money we use to buy those stamps. I think it is a wonderful idea. We must take back our nation from all the people who think that anything that offends them should be removed. If you like this idea, please pass it on and DO IT. The idea of writing or stamping "IN GOD WE TRUST" on our envelopes sounds good to me. I'M HAVING MY STAMP MADE TODAY! It has been reported that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the pledge of Allegiance. Could it be that WE just need to take action and tell the 14% to "sit down and shut up"? edited to add; Let the ACLU, stew over this one. ;D Title: Re:"In God We Trust" Post by: Soldier4Christ on October 20, 2005, 05:21:32 PM The following is a statement made in regards to this incident.
"According to Postal Service officials, it wasn't the religious motto that caused the original posters to be removed from its offices in Texas. The problem was that they were created and distributed by a private citizen, Frank Williamson, a retired engineer who wanted to remind his fellow Americans after the events of 9/11 that "our nation has always been successful because our forefathers put their trust in God." Postal Service regulations generally prohibit the posting of printed materials by private citizens on its premises." I for one do not believe that this was the reason behind the removal of these posters. Privately made posters have been and are posted in many post offices around the nation and nothing has been done to remove them because they don't mention God. I currently have a return address stamp that says "one Nation Under God" on it. I am thinking of getting a stamp made that says "In God We Trust" also for the back of my envelopes. |
