I just read on 4m.net that a race car went into the stands in Mt. Vernon Ill, and injured some people and killed atleast one person. This is truley a sad situation, and Im sure that everyone involved needs prayer right now. Please keep these people in your thoughts and prayers. I know a lot of people were wanting to know what exactly happened to Kevin Beattie during qualifying that resulted in the horrible wreck. Here is some informaiton:

Kevin's throttle stuck coming out of turn 4 and he also was not able to turn the racecar. I was sitting in the pit stands and when the car finally came to a rest, the left front tire rested against my left knee. I somehow managed to keep my eyes on the car , which usually I would turn and run. Anyway, I could see Kevin madly turning on the steering wheel, but the car was not turning. With the amount of speed he had, the car cut through the bottom of the fencing.

The last information that I was given is the one individual had passed away. Two more were in critical condition at CrossRoads Community Hospital and were not stable enough to LifeFlight to STL. Another individual was LifeFlighted to STL.

Our thoughts and prayers should be with the unfoturnate victims of this incident, as well as their families. I would also like to send my thoughts and prayers to Kevin Beattie and his family. For those of you who know Kevin he will do anything he can to help a person out. I hope that he is able to cope with this and realize that this horrible tragedy was an accident that no one could have controlled.

LM (white 15B) into the pit stands during qualifying. Ended up in row 4 through 10. Ten sent to hospital. One didnt look good.

The word up at Highland is that 3 people were killed and 15 severely injured.

We pulled out 3 in very bad shape. One gone for sure!! The other 2 tore up very bad. and stretched out . The driver In my opinion was having a nervis break down. One on the ground trying to crall finaly passed out. These were all men. They say there was a girl also.But' was their and did not see her. 15b late mod. during qualifieing.come out of turn four looked like somthing broke.Came wide open ramped the wall sheard the pole and thru the fence landed mid way up the bleachers on top of the cround. Most pit crews and family!! The law would not let us move the car.taped it off for investigation!!

Have faith that just because folks don't type in a response to a prayer request, doesn't mean they aren't praying.  That goes for every prayer request on the board.
