Title: Countering the advocates Godlessness Post by: JudgeNot on August 19, 2005, 01:38:11 PM The leftist public-policy group "People for the American Way" is urging its supporters to contact governors around the nation to oppose efforts to teach intelligent design alongside evolution in public schools. Their letter writing campaign offers the following form letter to paste into emails or copy into letters:
I am writing to urge you to resist efforts to teach "intelligent design theory" in our public school science classes. This concept, which the National Academy of Sciences has called "creationism in disguise," is intended to circumvent the Supreme Court's ruling that teaching creationism as a science in public schools is an unconstitutional establishment of religion. Since President Bush voiced his support for teaching "intelligent design" earlier this month, those looking to undermine the separation of church and state may renew their effort to bring this stealth version of creationism into our public schools. Our science teachers should be teaching science, not religion. I ask that you resist efforts to require them to teach creationism in any form. In an effort to counter the wrongly and misleadingly named organization “People for the American Way”, I’ve rewritten their letter and urge you to email governors across the country, using the subject line “Allow Critical Thought in our Schools”. I am writing to urge you to support efforts to teach "intelligent design theory" in our public school science classes. This concept is intended to return critical thought to our classrooms and to remind the unthinking that evolution is merely unproven (and non-provable) atheistic rhetoric. Since President Bush voiced his support for teaching "intelligent design" in July 2005, those looking to undermine and control our religious and critical thought freedoms have fallen into a tizzy of anti-God activism. I ask that you resist efforts to require teaching the religion of Darwinism with no discerning arguments for other more viable alternatives. Our science teachers should not be teaching ignorant theory as fact. Another worthy cause - Thanks! I'm almost sure I signed a petition on this recently, but the emails are a good idea to go along with it. Love In Christ, Tom Psalms 135:6 NASB Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. |
