A couple of years back at my place of employment, it was mandatory that I attend a two-hour session of ‘sensitivity training’.  Since it has been several years, and California legislators are certain the first ‘training’ will wear-off, if I’m still with my company in another year or so I may be required by law to re-take "sensitivity training.”  

For those of you who have never been required to take such a ‘class’, I can assure you that it is not ‘white-male bashing’, per se, as some would have the world believe – although I can see how in certain instances the course could turn into that.  

We basically set and watched a series of videos with a lot of very strange and in some cases mentally sick people and were told over and over that they are ‘just as good as the rest of us.’  (Of course - a Christain already knows that.)  We even had to break off into smaller groups to ‘practice’ being nice to those ‘different’ from us.  

At the end of the two hours as we were closing, when my ‘turn’ (choke) came to expound the benefits I gained from the ‘training’, I implied that I thought a lot of time and company training budget could have been saved because whole thing could have been accomplished with a simple email to staff reminding everyone of the ‘Golden Rule’ as recognized from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 6 verse 31.  

Although I was not admonished in any way for expressing my thoughts, it was apparent from most of the faces – particularly the instructor’s, that my comment was wholly inadequate.  And you know – when I think back, I understand their feelings.  

You see, I come from the ‘Churched Generation’.  And in the geopolitical arena I live and work in, it is not the norm.  In fact, as many of you know, being ‘churched’ is the same as wearing the label “intolerant’.  So for me to reduce what is, in essence, a religious experience to many of those people to a single biblical verse was a kind of blaspheme to them.  

It is all terribly sad.  Please join me in prayer for the “blind and deaf.”  And for anyone who may believe that Christian missions are not needed in the USA, think again – and reflect on why cults such as the LDS (Mormons) and JW’s are growing by leaps and bounds.  It is because they dare to farm the ‘unchurched’, anywhere and anytime.  

PLEASE take the time to tell a friend about Jesus; the only way to true tolerance, the only way to God, and the only door to everlasting life.

Brother, we send missionaries all over the world, but an army of missionaries are needed right here for our own family, our friends, our neighbors, our co-workers, and a host of people who need to hear the Gospel of the Good News.

We can all make a huge difference in our own country. God definitely has work for all of us to do if we will but yield to His Will.
