Title: 25 years ago, Mt. Saint Helens Post by: Shammu on May 18, 2005, 07:51:46 PM 25 years ago, Mt. Saint Helens erupted. I still have a bottle of ash, from my car in Yakima, Washington. The day became night, and ash ate the paint from my car.

WOW! - time flies. It's hard to believe that was 25 years ago. One of my brothers lives about 50 miles South and was in Portland at the time of the eruption. I remember watching on the news and thinking about all of the awesome power being released. It was very impressive, even on television. In person, my brother said it was very impressive over 100 miles away. In reality, it was tiny compared to what it could have been, and there are ticking time-bombs just like it all over the world. Regardless of all our science and sophistication, it's still just a guess when they'll blow. Love In Christ, Tom II Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. They said that they are expecting Mt Rainier to cause even more damage than Mt St Helens when it goes off which they are expecting to happen soon. When it goes they expect the side toward Seattle go first as it is the weakest side. A Lahar (sp) is expected to trail out into several valleys one of which extends all the way to Puget Sound.
Their web site also has a news video on Mt St Helens the day it went up ..... http://www.weather.com/multimedia/index.html?clip=464&collection=topstory&from=wxcenter_video |
