Title: The Yoke of Christ Post by: TrevorL on April 15, 2005, 06:43:29 AM Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV): "28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
The figure of the yoke is thought to be the double yoke, where a young animal is coupled to an older animal used to steady ploughing. If the young races ahead it is gently restrained, if reticent gently encouraged. But over all, the burden bearer is Christ. Kind regards Trevor |
