The Overlooked,

I would certainly agree with you on some parents, but not all parents. I know there are still a large number of parents who really care and try to raise their children with the things of the LORD.

I think that the parents you are talking about are more interested in being friends than in being parents. Maybe they throw some money at their children and think they are doing a wonderful job.

On the other side of the coin is real parents who show real love by making rules, spending time with their children, and teaching their children morals, values, ethics, and JESUS. The children of these parents might not appreciate everything their parents do until they get older.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Remember first that we war against the powers and principalities in the air. We do and so do our children.

That said it is the parents responsibility to raise their children for Christ. Sure, there will always be the prodigal. But the Bible says to train your child in the way that they should go and they will not depart from it.

So, basically....turn of the televisions, stop chasing the american dream, stop working the extra hours and the weekends so you can afford the nicer house and newer cars. Spend time with your children, train them what the Lord commands and most of all....LET THEM SEE CHRIST IN YOU!

MorethanConquerors,

I had to quote your entire post because it hits the heart of this matter perfectly.

All I can add is AMEN!!!!!

Thanks man. The closer I get to the Lord the clearer things seem to me. How sometimes we try to make things harder than they need to be. We see the pain in the world or how the society in our country is slipping down the tubes and look at it and try to devise strategies to fix it...when the act of fixing it can start with the way we raise our children.

For me it is not just the way we raise our children but also being a role model for all children that I come in contact with. My wife and I live in a community that is close. By close I mean houses and yards are close together and all yards are actually together, community used.

There are many children here that have only one parent and that parent must work many hours just to get by. This leaves many children alone and without direction. Too many people say "they are not my children so they are not my responsibility". I say it is our responsibility to God to show them all the right way.

I have seen some Christians in this area get really mean to these children and their parent turning them even further away from God. Sometimes all it takes is saying "Hi" with a smile instead of saying "get out of here don't bother me"

Showing them love and understanding has turned many of them around. I have lived here now for 6 years. In this time many have grown up and moved away. Many of these are still coming back to visit and ask for our advise.

As for the parents, showing them this love and understanding also goes a long way. Many of them come to us for advice on their children just because they saw these results asking us how we do it.

My point here is be a living witness, a role model, for parents as well as children.
