I haven"t read much on this teaching nor another the LORD has shown me ?The bible does not say much about either of these teachings .I can only think ,that they must be experianced to be understood .As with BORN AGAIn and the gifts .
As when I 1st came to JESUS CHRIST [born again ]I had many problems ,it seemed every one was ,againth me .
Well I entered into GODS NEW REST .I did not understand this place ?as it is perfect peace .Nothing on earth can touch you .You feel no pain of any kind in your body or mind .I now know that every child of GOD who dies in a bad wat enters this and feels nothing .Steven entered this .As he was being killed with rocks .He never felt pain of any kind ..This place is for us , It is given by the HOLY SPIRIT .How we get to go there ?I can not say .I have only met one person ,who entered in ,But she thought some how her dead son did it .Which of course HE DID NOT .But as she explain what happen to her .I said ?You were in GODS NEW REST .In it you are in perfect peace .You speak with the LORD and do everything as normal .but make no mistakes .But as all things have become new to us .This is just another
The next thing is rivers of living water .Not much teaching on this either ,and I will not be able to tell much .
But one night ,the HOLY SPIRIT awoke me .I sat up in bed .It was very peaceful .I wondered WHY i awoke .I looked down the hall .Wondering had one of my 4 kids awoke ?But heard nothing .Then I heard the sound of rushing water .It filled my ears .The HOLY SPIRIT came upon me in a circle motion body .It was a wonderful feeling .then after a while it started leaving me .and i knew satan had entered the room .I told the LORD ?Make him go .He said ?I can not .I said ?But LORD ,YOU created the heavens and earth ,YOU can do anything .HE said I can not ,YOU must do this .I said BUT LORD ,I am just a weak man .I can not do this .HE said YOU MUST .I said in great fear .GET OUT IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST .he left fast .The HOLY SPIRIT came back upon me .But I kept saying the same thing over and over .Not really believing this power ,I had over satan and demons .Soon ,I lay back and enjoyed this wonderful feeling .Then I looked at my wife and wanted her ,to feel what ,i was feeling .I reach over and touched her .then the HOLY SPIRIT left .HE would not enter her body . So these are 2 things ,you could ask GOD to let you experiance .Or if you have been shown these ?please tell ?

This includes HIS REST as we are now spirits as HE IS so the rest has also changed

That's an interesting story you tell. I can not add much to what you say of the lving waters except that they can flow out of our lives and be waters of life to others if we submit ourselves to God and His Spirit. He and His Word are what gives life, and if we have His abiding Spirit, then we have available to us the living waters of truth.
The New Rest we have is Jesus. We rest from our own works of righteousness and rely upon what He did for us at the cross. He is our righteousness.
We rest upon the fact that He conquered sin and death for us. Death now has no sting. He is our eternal life.
Jesus gives us rest fromour heavey burden of sin and guilt and gives us the light burden of love, helping us to perform His will in life.
Jesus is our rest and our God. He is all in all to us and our sufficiency.

I know you do not understand this rest ,I wish I could show it too you ?But of course I can not .But it is nothing of this world .I have a little understanding ?But not enough ! Maybe the LORD will reveal more one day ?But when studied ?It makes sense as all things become NEW .And everything the HOLY SPIRIT gives is not of this world !So this rest as well as BORN again or speaking in tongues .Make no sense to most people .unless of course they have had some experiance with them ?as we now walk by FAITH.which is not by our sight or understanding .But yet we try so hard in the flesh ,too see the things of the spirit .which of course can not be seen in the flesh .only the results !

I would like first of all to make something clear.... God didn't rest because he was tired... he didn't stop his work because it wasn't good enough either... unlike us... we must cease our works because....

Isaiah 64:6  But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

That rest of God, is at least in part the ceasing of our fleshly works, and attempts at righteousness. Allowing Jesus to be our all. Letting the Holy Spirit do His work in us. That means daily keeping ourselves in that rest by not trying to be righteous in our own strength.

Gal 3:2  This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3  Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Like Abraham we must believe God for our righteousness.... what more rest is there than to cease our fleshly striving to be better than others... to be accepted as a child of God by faith in Christ? Knowing that "all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose".

I believe Gods rest can and does include manifestations of God's Holy Spirit.. and perhaps can include some of the stuff that Gary mentioned, like Stephens state at his stoning...but I do believe it is a place of spiritual rest. Not necessarily physical comfort... I'd love to believe that Stephen felt nothing when being stoned, but my guess is that he felt the pain like everyone else would. The Holy Spirit's mission with us on earth is to present us as a spotless bride to Christ... to enamour us with Him.. to glorify Christ and cause us to love Him more and more for who He is. The more we know Jesus personally the more rest we have. I cannot give a scripture for that last statement, but I do believe it is true from personal experience. The first thing that happens when we get out of touch with/ out of communion with God is that we get restless and lose our peace. I've said enough..


I think Hebrews explains the rest issue well....


Heb 3:7 ¶  Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8  Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9  When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10  Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11  So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12  Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.13  But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14  For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15  While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16  For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

Heb 4:1 ¶  Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

3  For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

6  Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

8  For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9  There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10  For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 ¶  Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Jesus invites us to come to Him and drink. When we drink from Him, the fountain of life, He does a miracle.

John 7

37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.

   
38 He that believeth in Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."

John 4

14but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

Keep coming to Jesus. Sup with Him continually.

I don"t understand ?Why the LORD revealed these two things to me ?I have told many brothers and sisters .Hoping one  experianced these ?But have only found one woman ,who had entered this new rest .Yet she believed her dead son did it ? But it is a act of the HOLY SPIRIT .Just as born again is .and the gifts .  They are wonderful things to have .I know I have many brothers and sisters ,Yet Why show ME ? I wish I had more understanding or some way to give it to others or at least ?Cause them to seek these .And I only experianced them once .Many years ago ? Iknow NO MORE about them now?Than when they took place ? I know the scriptures ,But with out experiancing GODS LIVING WORD ?It is not the same ?
