Title: Yes, another Brit. Post by: Bern on December 01, 2004, 01:23:59 PM Hey my names Bern(ard), as you've probably guessed by now. Posted a few times already, but thought I'd introduce myself properly.
I live just south of London, in Kent. I've been a Christian for about 7 years and attend an Evangelical Free church... although really the church and myself are non denominational. God brought me from a life in the occult into His kingdom, for which I pray I will become ever more thankful. I'm 24, single with no kids. (Praise God! LOL) My only goal now is to grow more like Christ and to get closer to God. If I discover I have any other goals, then I pray God will show me how to get rid of them! I've been a Christian since 1979. I was taught about the LORD by my mother (God rest her soul) when I was a very wee boy (you'll gather I'm Scottish!). i've got cataracts in both eyes and nystagmus in the left. Thank goodness I live in a country where I don't have to pay to go into hospital! For this reason, the only Bible I could read when I was small was our next-door neighbours' one. It was their family Bible, and it was a great joy to me to read about Abraham, Moses, David et.al. I'll tell you more about myself when I get some replies. Title: Re:Yes, another Brit. Visited in Sevenoaks quite often and attended the nicest little evangelical church of England while there with our friends who live there. Title: Re:Yes, another Brit. Newtongrange was one of the many coal mining towns in the area but now the old colliery has become the Royal Scottish Mining Museum. My mother was one of God's saints - and a suffering one. She had appalling ill health - asthma, pernicious anaemia and (at the end of her life on Earth) Coeliac's disease. But she had a great sense of humour. She taught me that a sense of humour was a sense of balance. I've found that, if I can laugh at myself, it's half the battle. I LOVE swimming! Because of my bad eyesight I can get into my local swimming pool free of charge. I don't know if you swim Pat, but if you do it's lovely in the water isn't it? Great to have you on board here. Its a wonderful part of the UK that you live in. I have been blessed to be able to visit Scotland a number of times and the scenery is outstanding. A few of my favourite places were Avimore and Oban and of course, Edinburgh ;D I can now fly to Edinburgh or Glasgow from my local airport for about £30 and be in Scotland in less than an hour.
