Title: Colt and Smith & Wesson with a Mark? Post by: at_the_Cross on November 22, 2004, 05:12:04 AM Although mandatory background checks and waiting periods help ensure that guns do not fall into the wrong hands, there is currently no way to limit the use of a gun to the original purchaser. If guns were personalized so that only the buyer could operate them, many deaths, both accidental and intentional, could be prevented.
The technology to produce personalized guns, or "Smart Guns," already exists and is being tested by companies such as Colt and Smith & Wesson. Four major versions of the technology are: a magnetic ring worn by the owner that matches a magnet inside the gun that allows it to be activated; a transponder worn by the owner that activates the gun when the corresponding transponder inside the gun is within a close range; a combination lock placed on the gun itself; and a fingerprint recognition device. If firearms manufacturers design, build and sell "smart guns", the criminals will develop methods to disable this "Smart Gun" very shortly thereafter. So, what are your thoughts on Smart Guns and the Bible? Title: Re:Colt and Smith & Wesson with a Mark? Post by: 2nd Timothy on November 22, 2004, 10:07:01 AM at_the_Cross, there are many theories about what the mark will be. Whatever it winds up being, it will most assuredly affect peoples ability to buy, sell, and trade going by what scripture tells us.
Things of this sort...the gun/chip control...make an interesting case for possible reasons, an un-believing world may willingly accept a chip type technology. This, terrorism, being able to IDentify trouble makers, is headed in that general direction. I've heard some people even try to tie our PC's into the mark...www=666 and the mouse will be able to read a PC chip in your hand so you can buy on-line. The theories are endless....lol The only thing scripture tells us about the mark is that it the AC will cause all to receive it, and without no one can buy sell or trade, and that it will be relevant to the AC name, or number, and also all those who do receive will be doomed. How he will convince the world to take this mark, seems to spur all these ideas. Who knows? The only thing we know for certain, is that it is coming, and the techonology now exists for one man to implement such an idea. Grace and Peace! Title: Re:Colt and Smith & Wesson with a Mark? Post by: Saved_4ever on November 24, 2004, 04:37:43 AM I think the ring idea sounds pretty cool but obviously all one would have to do is steal the ring. Also you would need one for every gun you own. Some people would look really silly with all those rings. ;D Also what happens when they forget which ring is which.
It all just sounds like the gun manufactuers way of trying to appease anti-gun people. It has nothing to do with the mark. Honestly I don't know why people get so worked up over it all the time. They usually start to lose sight of what we are supposed to be doing for the LORD. The bible tells us that we will know and that we can not be fooled by the devil and his "wonders". If anything it should spur people to get to work and be prepared for the LORD's return. "Packing your bags" for the trip would be going about spreading the word and and living for the LORD. That's all we should be doing and worrying about. |
