Title: After seeing We Were soldiers I wrote this poem Plz look Post by: phantom934 on November 14, 2004, 08:48:38 PM THEY WERE SOLDIERS ONCE.... AND YOUNG These men who walk in and kiss their wives and children goodbye,then turn on their heels and walk out; they know where they're headed. They hang on to that shred of hope that they might make it home,this small thing keeps them going. They are fearless men who jump and die,they quickly risk their life to bring another home. They are men I wish I could have fought along side. They do not ask why or if they might. Take this hill and onward they march to take it, no matter how much blood they must shed for it. These are men who are supported by a lonely few. People back home protest and carry on. If only they could see the Hell these men pay. The sleepless nights and the nightmarish sights. The ones who do make it home; a welcome they'll not soon recieve. Why? Only because they were soldiers once....and young. Jonthan Nikitas(15 yrs.)
