Title: Question regarding children Post by: ParkerLewis on November 09, 2004, 11:34:59 AM I'm a lover of cartoons and always have been, but I came across a new situation that I had never considered prior to last night. My four year old son absolutely adores Donald Duck, but I hadn't realized that he wears NO pants.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into this and I should just let it go, but does anybody else feel this to be inappropriate to expose to youngsters? I don't want my son to be sad but I also don't want him to think this is appropriate behavior. (It would not be an issue were he a standard chipmunk or rabbit that doesn't espouse human characteristics, but for something so "human", it makes me a bit uncomfortable.) I've never connected that in my years of watching TV ( although i currently watch nothing, due to boredom with it and its not exactly interactive) And I suppose that since i havn't connected it, It isn't bad, i mean i shouldn't go around activly thinking these things? That would be counter-productive i.e must not think "hes not wearing pants" ad nauseam, you think what your not meant too
You know if you can draw some pearls of wisdom from that, you'll be doing great ;) Its a bit messed. Basically i'm saying that "ignorance is divine", if your kids notice it, ban it, if not or if they don't say it'll be your call.... unless someone can quote scripture for it, i'm sure you'lll find that much more helpful. |
