Title: Grumpy!
Post by: Brother Love on November 05, 2004, 04:41:52 AM
Grumpy!

This is a true story.  A woman had Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in her yard as lawn ornaments.  One morning she found that Grumpy was missing.  The thorough search of the neighborhood and many inquiries were fruitless.  Grumpy had vanished.

Weeks later he suddenly appeared in his usual spot, the same grump’s expression on his painted plaster face.  But attached to him with duct tape was a photo album.  One picture showed him in front of London’s Big Ben.  Another showed him grumping in front of the Eiffel Tower.  Picture after picture documented his trek around the world.

Perhaps the pranksters hoped a free world tour would cheer up the little fellow.  But it did no good whatsoever.  He returned as sour as when he left.

Isn’t it amazing that God shows us His wonders and educates us in His ways, yet through this amazing journey so many of us, like the Grumpy lawn ornament, remain unchanged, unaffected, untouched?*

For a moment, observe God’s wonders…

Consider His Creation.  "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1).  "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse" (Romans 1:20).

Consider His Communication.  "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, {17} that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).  Through the Word of God, we are able to know God and His will for our lives.

Consider the Cross of Jesus Christ, God’s Son.  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).  "This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. {10} This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as to be the propitiation (Divine substitute) for our sins" (1 John 4:9-10).

The wonders of God should change us more and more into the image of His dear Son (Romans 8:29).  This process is begun by becoming one of His children: placing our trust in Christ (Acts 16:31), confessing the Deity of Christ (Romans 10:9-10.  The process continues as we continue to follow Christ as our Savior and Lord.

Observing the wonders of God, will you remain unchanged, or will you allow God to change your life?

God bless you!

Titus 3:4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
5 not by works in righteousness which we had done, but according to His mercy, He saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
6 whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ, our Savior;
7 that being justified by His grace, we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
