Title: Time Off Post by: Symphony on October 24, 2004, 08:07:23 PM And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire:1Ki 19:11-12
"...and after the fire a still small voice." Shylynne here quoted the above verse under Debate on the hypocrite thread. And it got me to thinking, today(Sunday), how much time do we really take "off" in order just to wait or listen for any 'still small voice', should there happen to be one? Suppose there is this 'still small voice', and it's out there in the awesome great ether all the time, but we're just not 'cluing into it'? How much time do I take off just to wait, watch or 'listen' - in meditation, or quiet prayer...? Do you ever imagine how jumbled up our brains are - constantly - with all the eternal emergencies, crises(real or imagined), ambitions, thoughts, etc., going through them constantly, practically around the clock, 24/7, even - or especially - while we're asleep, not to mention when we're awake? How much time would God have to speak to us, even if He is?? ??? That is probably one of the reasons God requires us to come out of the world and be seperate aside from being Holy and avoiding pollution, so He can get a word in edgewise.
