Title: red letters sister Post by: red letters on October 11, 2004, 06:08:17 PM I'm worried about my sister (she's almost 21). I've been praying a long time that she would start coming to church with me. My prayers were answered when about 3 weeks she officially became a member of my church and (I hate to word it like this) claimed to be saved. I was over-joyed. My sister's been through a lot lately and I thought her life was finally starting to get back in line. But then last week she decided that between her two jobs, she just didn't have time for church anymore. I really don't know what to do. I try talking to her but she just gets irritated with me for "nagging" her. Could you please pray for her and for me to understand what to do for her?

We can't judge that. She could be. People sometimes go through a "roller coaster". They rise and fall. Maybe she hit a low point right now, but if you and the rest of us pray for her and God willing, she will come close to God again soon.

You sister's actions really remind me of how my sister is. The problem is that your sister is aware that she is chosing secular things over God. Perhaps she needs to work on Sunday or maybe Sunday is her only day off and she wants to rest on that day so she doesnt wanna go to church. Whatever her reason she feels guilty because she knows that she is chosing something secular over something she "knows" she should attend: church. This might be why she reacts as "gets irritated with me for "nagging" her.
Solution: tell her -- it would be great for you to go to Church because you would be able to grow in Christ. But if u absolutely can't it is not that big of a deal. What is a big deal is your relationship with Jesus. It is imperative that u continue to read the bible and pray daily so u can continue to grow. whether its because you dont want to give up time for church or you just absolutely can't, church would really benefit you in more ways than the time you spend for making money or leisure. it is up to you and how you feel about your relationship with God Title: Re:red letters sister Post by: Kris777 on October 12, 2004, 04:05:58 AM I found that an awesome way to get someone into church that tries to back out and make up excuses is to come home after church and tell about things that you liked about the church. And to give them an idea of the great things that they missed out. My mom didn't go to church for a while, but when I said that she became interested.

I have strong faith and a great relationship with the Lord but I rarely go to church. I don't believe that you have to go to church to be a "good christian" and I don't choose secular things over going to church. God knows my heart and I know He understands why I don't go.
Red Letters ~ Just be there for your sister in her walk of faith. Continue to pray for her and let her know that God does love her. I will pray for you and your sister. Fellowship with God the Father, with Jesus Christ, and with other Christians. If she doesn't go to church, she needs to keep reading His Word, Praying, and getting together with other Christians for Fellowship. It is a vital part of her walk with the Lord.
Also, I'll lift her up in prayer. And I'll also lift you up in prayer to gain wisdom and strength with this situation you are facing. God Bless... RObert |
