I just turned 20 last March, and judging from some of the responses I've read to some of the other posts, some of y'all sound like you're way older me. But that's ok. I don't mind.

(I haven't accomplished much yet as an official adult, but I did finally finish off the birthday cake and most of the candy.) Next year I can buy alcohol!! Woohoo! :P Things I've learned over the past few years: When you embarrass yourself, don't get too upset about it. It'll make a great story when you're ready to tell it - in fact, people are probably smiling about it right now. I'm not the prettiest or the cleverest or even the plainest. There is always someone out there who exceeds me in something, usually in a lot of things. Adults are way wiser than I thought they were, and if they seem simple, its probably a disguise for their complexity. Be a good friend to someone else first. We don't have enough time on this earth to waste it all on ourselves. The universe is absolutely enormous. Even bigger than my imagination. Way bigger. Almost everything I know is superficial. "Jesus loves me, this I know" is one of the most profound songs in the hymnal. Someone is dying for their faith, losing a loved one, suffering some physical hardship at this moment. I have no right to complain, especially since I have no right to have what I already have. Most of the time. You have to make sure that at 50 you've acquired 50 years of wisdom, not 1 years wisdom 50 times. I know - for sure I don't have 52 years worth of wisdom. |
