Title: New Person Needs Help
Post by: Nevada77 on September 04, 2004, 01:48:01 AM
I was wondering how you guys get the cool pictures displayed underneath your posts. I have avatars to chose from but don't know how to put them on my profile.

Oklahoma Howdy to Nevada77,

I'm sorry to be so late in replying. Let me give you a little bit more help. First, the forum software sees "[ ]" as a command, so I will have to replace them so you can see the examples. I will replace all the "[ ]" with "{ }" to accomplish that. So, when you install your picture, please remember to use "[ ]".

1 - The source of the picture must be available to the Internet 24/7, and it must have a valid URL to paste into your signature profile. So, just having the picture on your computer won't work. The pictures I use are kept on my web site.

2 - There are great Christian pictures all over the Internet, and some of the sites will allow you to hot link to that picture and use it anywhere you wish. However, many sites do not allow hot linking because they use up bandwidth. Some folks have bills at the end of every month based on the bandwidth used.

If I wanted to install the welcome graphic I use into my profile, heres what the command would look like:

{center}{img}http://www.sirinet.net/~blkidps/welcome.gif{/img}{/center}

If I replace the "{ }" with "[ ]", here's what it looks like:

I hope this helps.

Love In Christ,
Tom
