I suppose this is your backhanded way of branding me or my website as a cult. Have you ever noticed that when people are involved in a cult that they tend to be the first ones to cast the "cult" stone at others? One of the hallmarks of a cult member is that they have a tendency to quote their "leader", as if that leader had the greatest insight that ever was. They also have a bad bad habit of reading more of what some man says than what Jesus had to say.

I like to quote Jesus.    He's MY leader.

UM???? - I'm positive that you didn't find anything on Brother Hank's site that would even hint that he isn't saved. I'm curious why you would even hint this. 100% agreement with you is not a requirement of being saved, so please inform all of us why you would say something like this on Christians Unite. There are no two people or pastors, past or present, who have 100% agreement.

So, what is the basis of you saying Brother Hank isn't a Brother in Christ? It should have some substance. If not, it would simply be a cheap personal attack, one you should retract and apologize for. If you are wondering, I think it is a cheap personal attack without any grounds. 100% agreement is not a measurement any anything, especially considering that 100% agreement does not exist.

By the way, I don't agree with you 100% either, so does that mean I'm lost also?   ???  Regardless, I think this is sad and childish.

You didn't answer the question, nor did you make an attempt. 100% agreement with you, me, or anyone else is not a prerequisite for salvation, so your post about Evangelist was a cheap personal attack, disruptive, and untrue about him not being a Brother in Christ. Please consider this to be a formal warning, especially since your remarks about Evangelist were public.

Cool off and think before you label a Brother in Christ as lost. I don't think you can handle a debate with Evangelist, but you are welcome to try if you wish to remain civil.

Gentlemen.  I must say that this tirade is less than edifying.  B.L. is a hyper/ultra dispensationalist.  From what I've read here in posts and perused from Hank's site, I'd gather he's a dispensationalist with his head screwed on straight.   ;D  

So, as usual, B.L. disagrees with everyone that doesn't agree with C.R. Stam.  BTW Hank, Tom agrees with some of Stam's stuff, so I don't think it's that cultish.   :)  And B.L.?  Hank is about as straight-forward theologically as you can get.  I have yet to see anything I'd greatly disagree with in his posts, or his site (granted, I have more to read but have faith I won't have problems with that which I read).  That said, and the only real point I have (no comments from the peanut gallery please  ;D), do we really need to doubt one another's claim to the salvific grace of our Lord Jesus Christ?

I take it as a compliment, Allinall, but I will say this....I don't call myself a dispensationalist in the classic connotation. Rather, I use the "division" as a way of better understanding HOW God dealt with mankind, and the progressive means of showing to us our inadequacy.  And, along with Dr. Scofield (as he states emphatically numerous times), I do not consider God to have provided different means (house rules) of salvation over the course of time....throughout all of the "dispensations", there has been only ONE way of salvation, only ONE who could declare us righteous. "Salvation is by grace through faith, and that not of yourselves; not of works, lest any man should boast."   


I don't consider Stam, or any other hyper-dispy to be a cult, although some border on it...like the guy in Colorado that has started a "shadow-gov" movement...and even he can't decide how many dispensations there are. "there could be as few as 3, or as many as 32 or 33, just depends on how you look at it." DOH!

Stam, just as many others, has some good things to say, and some very salient points to make....and just as many others, a tendency to warp some things to try to emphasize a point, or prove a doctrine.

Seems to be the nature of those who think they know it all.  :(

I think that the biggest thing that bothers me about this is claiming someone isn't saved because of a difference in doctrine. If that were done by everyone, there couldn't possibly be a Christians Unite forum. WHY??? - there are no two of us who have 100% agreement.

I think that it is silly and childish to suggest that someone isn't saved because of some belief that has absolutely nothing to do with Salvation. Those differences could make for some very interesting and educational discussions. In fact, discussions of those differences in adult manners could help to build each other up in Christ. In the very least, some might even come to some understanding that no two of us even has the same definition for many of the tags and labels thrown around. It makes everyone pretty confused, and that is exactly what the devil wants.

So - what do the following have to do with being saved?

Double dispy
Reverse dispy
Over and under dispy
Anti dispy

It could get much more silly than this. Now, does the person or pastor have Jesus as personal Lord and Saviour? Personally, I don't have to agree with everything a person believes to have fellowship. That's a good thing since nobody completely agrees. I can also listen to a good preacher and enjoy the sermon without 100% agreement, mainly because there is no such thing as 100% agreement. Who is nit-picking and trying to decide which "nit" that has absolutely nothing to do with Salvation is worthy of calling the person lost?

Some of this stuff is so silly and childish that someone may wish to terminate fellowship if someone parts their hair on the left. UH OH, do you have to part your hair in the middle to be saved, or do you have to believe, confess, pray for forgiveness, and ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart as personal Lord and Saviour?

Dear Heavenly Father, we ask for guidance and wisdom to love our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Lord, let our differences be used to strengthen each other by studying YOUR WORD and prayerfully nurturing our fellowship. Lord, we ask that you help us be fitting examples for the lost and the babes in Christ that you send to us. We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

That's cool!  I call myself a dispensationalist only from the teachings embedded deep within my skull when I was at school.  Now, the big argument there was whether Covenant Theology or Dispensationalism was the right doctrine.  They taught Dispensationalism, which I held to.  Now, after I've grown, and been able to discern more for myself, I've looked deeper at the Covenant Theologian's point of view, and have concluded, apart from an inaccurate linking of Israel to the Church and vice versa, they hold to a "dispensation" of sorts as well.  And their linkings aren't necessarily all that out of whack either.  Nevertheless, to be true to the word is the key, and I believe the Dispensational viewpoint to be the closer.  But you don't live or die by the viewpoint.  You live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loves you and gave Himself for you.  Right?

I digress... ;D


Yup.  Find myself doing that from time to time.  But all I have to do is remember I really don't have much of a clue, and things are back into proper perspective.   :)
