Title: husband in Punta Gorda Post by: countrycat on August 17, 2004, 08:13:03 AM My husband is in Punta Gorda, which is about 200 miles, or so, from us. He drives a charter bus, and has taken FP&L workers ( Florida Power and Light) there to help restore power. He also volunteered to use his bus for transport of supplies and personnel for at least 7 days.
We just made an online donation to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. They , and the Salvation Army, took great care of us when we lost our home, and all we owned in a flood in 1978. Pray for all of those affected by this terrible hurricane. I have already been praying for the poor people in Florida and for their families. I also will pray for those trying to put part of their lives back together. You mentioned the Salvation Army, and I couldn't tell you how many times I have given thanks for them. I remember a pretty bad tornado here and numerous other disasters that they worked around the clock, right along with the police, firemen, and other emergency workers. I try the best I can to help the Salvation Army with food, clothes, and what money I can afford. Give your husband a big hug for us. It won't be easy to help so many people who have lost so much.
