Title: Does this apply to Christmas traditions? Post by: Jesusinme on July 24, 2004, 09:17:32 AM Jeremiah 10:2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven;for the heathen are dismayed at them.
10:3 For the customs of the people are vain:for one cutteth a tree out of the forrest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. 10:6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord;thou art great, andthy name is great in might. Does this refer to the Christmas tree? where does the tradition of the Christmas tree come from anyway?? anyone know? Title: Re:Does this apply to Christmas traditions? http://www.novareinna.com/festive/tree.html To answer your question about Jer 10: yes, I believe that Scripture is prophetic of what we are doing today. I guess my question would be - where in Scripture are we instructed to celebrate Christ's birthday? Shalom, MalkyEL 8) Title: Re:Does this apply to Christmas traditions? I would think Jesus was born about September. Over the years Christmass has become more and more a spiritual headache for me the more i learn the less i like "todays Christmas". |
