Title: Strangest Christian Song Post by: michael_legna on July 06, 2004, 03:57:55 PM What is the strangest Christian song that sticks in your mind and you find yourself humming it even though you don't necessarily like it?
For me it is "Drop Kick Me Jesus Through the Goal Posts of Life." I don't even know all the words but it hits me ever so often and then I can't get the tune out of my head. Title: Re:Strangest Christian Song Post by: NateyCakes on July 07, 2004, 02:08:08 PM Hehehe. I've heard it. :) You mean this one:
Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life End over end neither left nor to right Straight through the heart of them righteous uprights Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life. Make me, oh make me, Lord more than I am Make me a piece in your master game plan Free from the earthly tempestion below I’ve got the will, Lord if you’ve got the toe. Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life End over end neither left nor to right Straight through the heart of them righteous uprights Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life. Take all the brothers who’ve gone on before And all of the sisters who’ve knocked on your door All the departed dear loved ones of mine Stick’em up front in the offensive line. Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life End over end neither left nor to right Straight through the heart of them righteous uprights Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life. Yeah, Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life End over end neither left nor to right Straight through the heart of them righteous uprights Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life. Title: Re:Strangest Christian Song Post by: Tibby on July 07, 2004, 09:22:24 PM lol, what is it with all the "nana" and "lala" in praise music now? I mean, honestly, if you do not have the inspireation from God, just STOP! Something you will never see:
Psalm 151: 1 The lord is great and mighty is the work of his hand 2 I will seek not my own ways, by work in the will of the lord 3 Nanana, a nana, nana, Na nana nanana Damn Vineyard muttermuttermutter Title: Re:Strangest Christian Song Post by: House Of Three on July 08, 2004, 10:48:37 AM lol, what is it with all the "nana" and "lala" in praise music now? I mean, honestly, if you do not have the inspireation from God, just STOP! Tibby, I have a couple of the classic "maranatha!" albums dating all the way back to 1973, And there are enough "nanas" and "lalalas" on those old recordings to drive You to drink--lol--Things haven't changed that much, They just sound more professional now... Title: Re:Strangest Christian Song Post by: House Of Three on July 08, 2004, 12:12:19 PM What is the strangest Christian song that sticks in your mind and you find yourself humming it even though you don't necessarily like it? Daniel Amos' "Shotgun Angel" album from 1978 is chock-full of strange tunes, But the title track wins the blue ribbon for strangeness---"Guardian Angel ridin' shotgun-And he's ridin' with You all the way" -Puh-leeeese. Yet it's a good tune for what it's worth.... That's just going back one generation, Mind You... :) Title: Re:Strangest Christian Song Post by: alien on July 20, 2004, 01:22:22 PM How about Annie Herring's "Prince Song"? There's an entire "lalala" verse. Good song, regardless.
And, hey, we sing "Li li li" on some of our Hebraic-influenced music. Why not "La la"? However, the strangest Christian song I've probably ever heard...and I've heard a lot...would probably be..."Barry's Car" by Fat & Frantic. I give points to anyone who's ever heard of either the group or the song. By the way, why do I know about all these songs from my parents' generation?? ;D |
