Title: Family show LIFE WITH BONNIE is cancelled Post by: SAVELIFEWITHBONNIE on June 19, 2004, 03:52:54 AM CHRISTIAN FILM & TELEVISION EXCELLENCE: Losing "Life with Bonnie" is a Heartbreaker
News http://cftexcellence.net/News.htmlttp://cftexcellence.net/News.html 18th May 2004 Losing Life with Bonnie is a Heartbreaker "Bonnie" was one of the very few TV shows left that honors God and Christianity. My word, the characters even prayed over their dinner! Not only did the program feature a healthy family that invited the clergy in to bless their new home, they reached out to the people at work and in their neighborhood. It was a delightful sitcom. Bonnie Hunt & Don Lake wrote the scripts and Bonnie also directed the show. She is a committed Christian who made sure that her morals and ethics made it into each episode. Act One’s, Barbara Nicolosi recently wrote in an article for LIGUORIAN Magazine, “When she’s (Bonnie Hunt) in control, she produces entertainment of a very high caliber, which, because of Ms. Hunt’s personal commitment to faith and family, can be recommended to families without hesitation.” Here’s the thing. Life with Bonnie was funny. The second season was even funnier than the first. The language and the humor . . . clean as a whistle, but still it was funny! As Bonnie Hunt told the Catholics in the Media Association audience gathered to honor her film Return to Me, “I've got my faith. Another door will open." Let us pray that this excellent show is picked up by another network. =============================================================== This is a family show & there is a movement to protect shows like this from cancellation due to reality shows pushing them out. There is huge support to clean up network television, bring back the FAMILY HOUR & to make the FCC enforce rules & violation penalties. This is all about protecting families. I think there are many who may be interested in these issues & would love to help the very talented, BONNIE HUNT. Read this through to see letters to Senators, the FCC, national advertisers. Bonnie was raised in Chicago. She was also an Oncology nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital before she came to Hollywood. Her series LIFE WITH BONNIE was just canceled for this fall. They are still airing reruns. She produced, directed, wrote & starred in this sit com. Let ABC know you support CHICAGO's own Bonnie Hunt. Please share this handy work sheet with family, friends, & coworkers :) Thanks, June Jordan SAVE LIFE WITH BONNIE jordanjune@aol.com SAMPLE LETTERS Networks Shortchange the Kids: A Letter to Senators, the FCC & the ANA We need more family programming in prime-time. Families cannot allow the networks to drive them away. Networks must be pressured by viewers who buy products, from advertisers, that make commercials, that have huge corporations, that join associations like ANA, that buy air time from networks, that are telecast during programming, that must adhere to standards of the FCC, that are governed by members of the Senate, that hopefully listen to it's constituents. Just plain ordinary folks like you & I, are at the top & the bottom of this list. We are the beginning & the end of this wheel that's out of balance with families. Putting poorly promoted ABC's LIFE WITH BONNIE'S fate under the microscope illustrates the failure of networks to nurture the family unit. Children are profoundly affected by television. What they learn there will frame their parenting skills for kids of the future. We need to show kids the best that television has to offer. That's a huge responsibility, & it falls on the networks! Dear Senator: I think you'll agree, if we had more family television in prime-time, the cable issues would not seem as grand. The bottom line should really be the kids. Networks continue to take away their safe havens. Reality shows, sex, & violence have predominated evening programming. Do you really need to wonder why we have so much murder, violence, drug abuse, theft, fraud, & white collar crime? We need to bring this full circle and impress children to be good citizens & fine individuals so they can teach their children the same. Aside from good parenting, & after school community activities, this means more quality family programming that reinforces ethics, & good family values. It's simple, give at least an hour of prime-time back to the kids. Be generous to our future. Maybe adults can have an additional hour of prime-time afterwards. ===================================== Dear Ladies & Gentlemen of The Federal Communications Commission: I am sending you a letter that just I sent to The Association of National Advertisers. There is so much to lose when family viewers leave prime-time. It is important that you keep a safe place for them. I'd like to thank Commissioners Michael Copps and Kevin Martin for their stand in asking the TV networks to reinstate the family viewing hour & urge the other commissioners to join Copps and Martin in their stand. Hopefully, you can all agree to save a wonderful family situation comedy. ===================================== A letter to THE ASSOCIATION OF NATIONAL ADVERTISERS Ladies & Gentlemen at ANA: Family shows are an endangered species. Reality shows constantly erode that market. Family viewers are shying away from network television. What venues will be left for advertising family products? We are taking a stand to protect LIFE WITH BONNIE. Bonnie Hunt was nominated for 2 Golden Globe Awards. The show has The Seal of Approval of The Parents Television Council. Your family markets suffer when networks cancel a show of this caliber. Join us & garner a third season or more for LIFE WITH BONNIE. It's syndication will afford you many years of fine family programming & advertising opportunity. Don't lose this chance... Sincerely, June Jordan jordanjune@aol.com SAVE LIFE WITH BONNIE Title: Re:GOODBYE LIFE WITH BONNIE unless you try to make a difference:( Post by: SAVELIFEWITHBONNIE on June 29, 2004, 11:49:25 PM Bonnie Hunt's ABC sit com LIFE WITH BONNIE was canceled in May. It will rurun until the end of July & is not scheduled for the fall season. GOOD BYE LIFE WITH BONNIE unless you try to make a difference.
If LIFE WITH BONNIE got a third season, it would have syndication. By canceling LIFE WITH BONNIE & denying it a third season, ABC & TOUCHSTONE TV have wasted 2 years of production time, talent & money. This is an unwise business decision, more commonly called a blunder. It is also a slap in the face to families & nonsupport of real family entertainment. They have impeded the worldwide legacy of BONNIE HUNT'S LIFE WITH BONNIE & shot this show DEAD IN IT'S TRACKS, along with a bullet hole in their own foot & and another straight through the heart of Bonnie Hunt. They should be ashamed, be very ashamed. There's hope that they can become the hero by bringing it back as a mid season entry. They can also recover their losses by effectively peddling it to another network or cable channel that can truly appreciate a quality family sit com & respect the talent & genius of Bonnie Hunt. Let the network know how you feel about this. SUPPORT YOUR SHOW & KEEP THE FAITH! It is rumored that Bonnie & the cast monitor the petition page & websites that have SAVE LIFE WITH BONNIE endorsements. DO NOT GIVE UP! Show them that we care & have not abandoned LIFE WITH BONNIE. Get Bonnie back on LETTERMAN with some positive news about the show! It's up to you. Don't drop the ball. Give them hope & something to smile about. CONSTRUCTIVE discussions are encouraged here at the messageboard! Title: FOUNDER OF SAVE LIFE WITH BONNIE DIED IN HER SLEEP Post by: SAVELIFEWITHBONNIE on July 26, 2004, 07:33:03 PM << I am Amy's brother, Harry. I regret to inform you Amy passed away in her sleep unexpectedly on Monday July 12, 2004. We are all in a state of shock. Please, if you can keep Amy's efforts for "Life With Bonnie" going, I would certainly appreciate it. It meant alot to Amy. Thank you. >>
Amy was 39 years old. She was the author of the petition & the founder of SAVE LIFE WITH BONNIE. She has been in a wheelchair since she was 27 due to arthritis of the spine. She lived with her mother & brother, & worked at home via computer. Her bedroom is a shrine to LIFE WITH BONNIE. This college graduate was a very smart young lady & led a normal life until she was 27 years old. Amy's dad passed away in 1998. Mother, Claudia, often feels his presence. Last Thursday, Amy excitedly called her mother into her room, and asked if she could smell her father Harry's pipe tobacco. She could not. Harry Senior may have been there that day checking on his daughter. He may have been there early Monday morning when she died peacefully in her sleep. Amy's unrelenting focus on this campaign during the last two months of her life in the face of pain was a miracle of faith. |
