one of the greatest movies ever in my opinion

anybody else love this movie?

My girlfriend does, but I've never seen it myself.

donnie darko is a very bad movie. it tries to implant this crazy time travel idea instead of the truth according to jesus. it also tries to teach that respected authorities are to be blatantly disrespected by troubled children and should be applauded for it. it presents a very bad social role model in its lead character and also seems to speak against the idea of censoring inappropriateness from our children.

Hey, first post, so if I'm being stupid, please go easy.

I love Donnie Darko. I actually think it accentuates a lot of morals and values (I think I can prove this too, but not sure), and in that sense is consistent w/ the Bible. Not perfectly, but I can't think of any movie that really is (other than Biblical adaptations).

Anyway, there are tons of Biblical allusions in it. Not that that makes it good or worthwhile, but it makes for an interesting discussion.

There are some morally reprehensible scenes. But just as in Graham Greene's book "The Destructors", it is meant to be ironic, to show the dichotomy of a world which only Donnie can see both sides of.


Donnie is obviously supposed to be a Christ figure. And in fitting with this role, he rebukes leaders, as Jesus did. I'm not saying this makes it right, just that this is the motivation behind the action.

Time travel does not substitute God's truth. It can only accentuate it, if it exists at all. And actually, from what I understand, there's no time travel involved. I'll explain more if you guys want.


It does discourage censoring, however, and that is a point I have issue with. I love this movie and I love talking about it, so if there's any questions or conflicts I wouldn't mind discussing them. Please reply.

I have never seen this movie at all, sounds evil to me..  I do NOT like Horror movies at all.

I think it's a great, if very confusing film.

Ok, yeah, that picture is way too big.

I haven't seen the movie. I did see previews for it and I was confused about the huge evil bunny.  :-\

And Your's is scarey with that monster eyes staring all the time!  :'(

Hey, at least mine is small. Plus, it goes with my name, though I don't expect many people to get it...

Yeah, that's your opinion!  I am not scared of Big Kitties at all. Well, if they are not tame. I wouldn't even get close to them if they are not tame!

Since those eyes are Fake in Sapphire W34P0N's, please think of the little children that see these web page forums with their parents!!!  Those fake eyes would scare Children!

What do your children say about those eyes?
 
I would think that children would be scared of 'real' eyes attached to say... a coyote, or something- especially if they live in an area where coyotes come close to the house.  :P
