On of the few movies where I've actually wept while watching.

Two scenes stand out for me. First, when the two Nazi officers drag the Rabbi outside of the little workshop in the prison camp to execute him and they can't get either of their pistols to discharge. I've always been curious if that was an actual event.

Second is right at the end when Oscar Schindler is finally leaving and the reality of it all begins crashing down upon him. He frantically begins assessing the real worth of everything he owns and realizes the lives each of his possessions could have bought. His only comfort is brought by the lives of those he's already saved.

I'm not really that familiar with the film or the story.  'Tho I've considered renting it, most in my circle only want to see family type pictures.  'Cept we do watch "The Hiding Place", 'bout Corrie Ten Boom's experiences there in Harlaam.  I really like the theme to that picture.  Nice piece of music.  But the violence isn't portrayed as much.

I've cried in a number of films.  Ben Hur is one--at the end, when through all of Ben Hur's hatred of his captors, the Romans, at the crucifixion, his mother and sister are healed of their leprousy.

I'm not sure if I will see Schindler's List or not.  I suppose if I were in the right circle I would.  It reminds me of the English nurse, Cavel(sp?), in WWI, who rescued some 200 allied soldiers, then was found out and executed by German firing squad.  "Broken" here on this Forum said she use to live near a statue honoring her, there in England.

Maybe I should go ahead and see Schindler, while they still have it for rental.  I'm kinda thinking we haven't heard the last of death camps, persecution, etc.  "Specially now since, like, we aren't suppose to speak out on, like, homosexuality, that obviously should tell us something.  Vice never likes you to expose it.

I imagine the misfires on the Rabbi, or some variation thereof, certainly would have happened.

Ben-her was great. Schindler's List was about the Holocaust. Don’t want to tell you anymore, but it is a great movie. Rent it ASAP!

As a history buff, and a Steven Spielberg fan, I didn't hesitate to see Schindler's List.  It is a must have in your video library...not because of the history, but the story is well written, well told, and well depicted.  The black and white element gave it an uncanny power.

Most of all, it makes you think...why would man commit such attrocities against another man...and what it takes to rise above the adversity.

I know based on interviews of Spielberg that most of the events were based on fact, or taken from testimonies of other survivors at other locations.  The compiling of the list is based on fact...the 'mix-up' at Auchwetts...the breakdown by the main character at the end...all based on fact.  

One warning though...because it is based on the Hollacaust, there are very graphic and disturbing realistic scenes.  You will need a strong stomach and a box of tissue.
