Title: PRAYER TIME Post by: teddybear on May 28, 2003, 06:42:54 AM Before you became a Christian, you may have prayed before meals,on holidays,or perhaps during times of crisis. As a believer, however, prayer should become second nature.Prayer is no longer an option but should become part of all you do.
As you integrate prayer into every aspect of your life, you will not always see your prayers answered the way you would like them to be.When this happens,it is easy to grow discouraged and give up praying. But Jesus implored us to pray and never give up (Luke 18;1).Paul also instructed believers to keep on praying (1 Thessalonians 5;17).When we fail to pray,we miss out on one of the greatest blessings of the Christian life-fellowship with God himself, our power source for living. In addition,we are going against what God has instructed us to do. The Bible gives us some perspective on how to exerience the power of prayer in our lives. The following is a partial list of what should characterize your prayers as a believer. 1.PRAY REGULARLY.God wants to hear our prayers throughout the day-not just in times of crisis or before meals (Acts 10;2). 2.PRAY WITHOUT HINDERANCE. Sins and other distractions can negatively affect your prayer life (Luke 22;39-46). 3.PRAY EXPECTING TO GET ANSWERS. The Bible gives us guidelines to follow so that our prayers will be answered (1 John 5;14-15). 4.PRAY EFFECTIVELY. Prayer can work powerfully in the face of a crisis when God's people come together and call out to him (Acts 12;1-17). 5.PRAY PERSISTENTLY. God honors persistent prayer (Luke 18;1-8). God Bless. To be a prayerful man, God is present in realized force. The man who has prayed many exceptable prayers has done the truest and greatest service to the incoming generation. To be a prayerful church, God is present in glorious power. The prayers of God's saints strengthen the unborn generation against the desolating waves of sin and evil. Woe to the generation of sons, who find their own censers empty of the rich incense of prayer, whos fathers have been to busy or too unbelieving to pray, and who have inexpressible perils and untold consequences for their heritage! They whose fathers and mothers have left them a wealthy legacy of prayer are very fortunate, indeed.
Prayer is the foundation of every successful christian endeavor. Time spent with God is vital if you desire a fruitful christian life. As the foundation of every christian endeavor, it plays a vital role in living a successful christian life. Study the lives of the great men and women of God from the past and you will find the strong emphasis they placed on prayer. Without prayer they would never have been able to achieve such tremendous results. Throughout the new testament we can see the value of prayer in the founding of the early churches. The apostle Paul prayed and interceded many hours for the new believers, in Ephesians 1:15-16 he wrote: "I..cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers". In Colossians 1:3 he said.."We give thanks to God and the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you". In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 He instructed the church to "Pray without ceasing". Luke 18:1 says.."men ought always to pray and not to faint". It is not enough to know that we should pray, we need to know why. Here is why we should pray. Ephesians 4:14-16 "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. http://theprayerroom2001.homestead.com/index.html |
