Title: Protestant faith and Catholic faith Post by: Annahavil on May 18, 2004, 06:35:28 AM ;DI am grinning as the book I read a while back (see boods, An Army with Banners) trys to give proof of our similarities. Advertising rules puzzle me a little. If I break any rules please tell me as I want to keep them. :D
Quote "The Roman Church has been a fortress in defence of the incarnation--the things that are of the utmost importance both to the Reformed Faith and to Christianity" Luther and Calvin when leaving Roman Church were never re-baptised, "continued to recognise the validity of Romish baptism." Believed Christian grace and all the essentials for salvation were there. I am trying to check out these details etc. PLEASE HELP ME AND CORRECT ME IF YOU THINK I AM WRONG. ;D Title: Re:Protestant faith and Catholic faith Post by: Tibby on May 18, 2004, 01:29:04 PM Just for clarification, what exactly are you asking us to correct you on?
Title: Re:Protestant faith and Catholic faith Post by: Annahavil on May 18, 2004, 06:51:29 PM I mean Tibby that I need your help and members help in proving these statements either true or false. Do you agree that the Protestant faith is close to the Catholic faith?
Title: Re:Protestant faith and Catholic faith Post by: Tibby on May 18, 2004, 08:35:32 PM I think faith is the wrong word, first of all. Now, I know what you mean, and I would hesitate to then mention this, but I know some other member will come and get upset over your semantics.
I don’t think you can really compare “Catholic” to “Protestant.” You see, Catholics, while there are different rites and sects and branches, they are still very similar and Sacramental and Liturgical, where as the Protestants cover a broad range of forms of Christianity. From the very Sacramental and Liturgical Lutherans and High-Church Anglicans, to them more liberal Baptist styles to the free form independent Pentecostals. Romish? Hmmm, I guess the early church would have called it Paulish and Johnish baptism...Title: Re:Protestant faith and Catholic faith Post by: Symphony on May 21, 2004, 03:34:59 AM Romish?
