Title: Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: Shammu on May 09, 2004, 12:19:50 AM What is your opinion of the series?
I myself agree with most of it but not all. I believe the Rapture will happen in the middle of tribulation. So what are your thoughs on the series? Or if you have only read a few of the books,? what is your opinion? Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: Tibby on May 11, 2004, 12:37:51 PM Yes, I have read the first few books. Up to the point where they killed the anti-christ. I was laughing to hard to go on. I don’t believe a word of what that book says, I do not believe it will be anything like that. Thats my opinion. :)

I was laughing to hard to go on. I don’t believe a word of what that book says, I do not believe it will be anything like that. Thats my opinion. :) If these books are like others I have read on like subject, the books probably come out seeming much like an exagerated fairy tale or Hollywood alien/monster story. Not to mention too corney for words. However I have never read this series of books so cannot critique them. I only know of similar ones I have read. These books would never lead me to Christ as they seem unreal in their fabrication and not of what God is saying in His word.Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: DovesWings on May 12, 2004, 03:12:39 PM I've read all the books so far.
I think they are written quite well...good reading material. Makes one think. Do I believe it will happen that way? Probably not...but, as I said, good reading :) (my oldest two are reading the series for kids). Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: Tibby on May 12, 2004, 11:04:42 PM I think they are written quite well... I’ve got to get some of what your smoking! ;D It is makes left behind a good read... I might could be able to watch the whole movie in one sitting on that stuff! ;D ;D ;D Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: DovesWings on May 13, 2004, 01:17:43 PM LOL...I have never watched the movie...I read the books to keep me occupied on a road trip. They kept me interested enough to see how these ppl viewed the whole rapture.
I think they are pretty good story tellers. Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: Sapphire W34P0N on May 30, 2004, 11:59:36 PM Reading those books...man, that's probably about 20+ hours of my life I wish I could have back...

What is your opinion of the series? The best ever. I myself agree with most of it but not all. I agree about 22%I believe the Rapture will happen in the middle of tribulation. Not me, I read the bible it says before the tribulation. So what are your thoughs on the series? Or if you have only read a few of the books,? what is your opinion? ENJOYED them all. Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: JudgeNot on June 13, 2004, 09:07:37 PM I enjoyed them all - just finishing up the last one. Compared to Christian fiction overall, I think they are middle of the road. Authors such as Dekker and Peretti spin a much better tale. I'd give the Left Behind series a C+ or B- overall, and (Sapph) I don't think it was a waste of my time to read them. But, as I say, compared to Dekker's "Blink", "Blessed Child" and "A Man Called Blessed", I have to admit "Left Behind" is somewhat like a B-movie. i.e.: 'Tremmors' is one of my favorite flicks but it's no 'Private Ryan' - same kind of comparison.
;D Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: musicllover on July 29, 2004, 12:14:51 AM I enjoyed them all as well. I know that it was a fictional story, but it sure made you think. The scriptural facts were used to weave a good story line. I always say the last one then the next one would come out and it would be my favorite. So I don't really have a favorite.
My only complain is they way they were sold, to long in between books, and I think they lost some of the orginal audience, and its was irritating to have to wait for the paper backs month after the hard back......grrrrr. How do you think I felt, I have them in hardback. I hated waiting months betweens the books as well.My only complain is they way they were sold, to long in between books, and I think they lost some of the orginal audience, and its was irritating to have to wait for the paper backs month after the hard back......grrrrr. Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: red letters on October 11, 2004, 05:39:12 PM I'm currently reading them. I liked how they helped me understand what's going to happen in the tribulation... but as far as a well written book, I didn't really think they developed the characters very well and they weren't very likable (the characters, not the actual books. Right...). Just my two cents...
Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: Getting_Real on December 07, 2004, 12:23:51 AM I read the first one. Main points as I saw it:
1. Thin characters, and not great writing overall. 2. One interpretation of end-times ideas. Interesting and entertaining, but by no means certain. Title: Re:Have you read "The Left Behind" series? Post by: Patzt on December 07, 2004, 12:41:34 AM One interpretation of end-times ideas. Interesting and entertaining, but by no means certain. This is how I feel as well. We have to remember that the "how's" and "when's" of the "end times" are not known. We do know that the Lord will come again but how or when is definitely uncertain. This is one interpretation alone. Post by: Bern on December 08, 2004, 11:27:58 AM I have just made a post on the "Christian fiction" thread which gives my opinion on this topic.
What was the first thing Satan did with Eve? Mixed truth with fiction. God hates mixture. Read my post on the other thread for a slightly more detailed (but not lengthy) post on this.
