You can name everyone you graduated with.

You ever went to parties at a pasture, barn, or in the middle of a dirt
road.

You used to drag "main".

You said a cuss word and your parents knew within the hour.

You ever went cow-tipping or snipe hunting.

School gets canceled for state events.

It was cool to date someone from the neighboring town.

The whole school went to the same party after graduation.

You think kids that ride skateboards are weird.

The town next to you is considered "trashy" or "snooty," but is actually
just like your town.

Getting paid minimum wage is considered a raise.

You refer to anyone with a house newer than 1980 as the "rich people."

The people in the city dress funny, then you pick-up on the trend two
years later.

Anything you want can be found at  the feed
store.

You see at least one friend a week driving a tractor through town.

Directions are given using "the" stop light as a reference.

You have ever taken a trailer or dog to school on a daily basis.

You know what 4-H is.

You decide to walk somewhere for exercise and 5 people pull over and ask
if you need a ride.

You can charge at all the local stores.

The closest McDonald's is 45 miles away. So is the closest mall.

I am proud to say I have been a part of every one of those!!!!

And the ol' days of racing ...LOL.
We only have one cop here and he's always sitting at the co-op drinking coffee.  ;D
Not much is better then a small town when you are growing up. And talk about deer seaon...the guys when they kill a dear, sit at the co-op....with the pickup tail down, showing off the deer. (bragging rights).LOL
And the best place to eat here is the fishcamp. 99% of fast food is yuck. Unless its a all you can eat buffet.  ;D

Ahh - beautiful Lake Merideth., the Alabates Flint Quarry.  Let's see - all my extended family lived (still do) up in Hansford County (Spearman & Gruver) which means going back and forth from Hereford put me in Fritch no more than a million or so times.  Used to stop for burgers on the way through... We would take a left on the road that goes through the Carbon Black Plant (talk about stinky!) so we wouldn't have to manuever the "city" of Borger.  That hill going down to the Canadian river used to scare me when I was a tot (probably still would!).

I miss Fritch. I moved away in 93 when I joined the service. I now live in Abilene TX, and it just isn't the same. Things are to complicated here, the simple life is the best. That hill is a scary thing when it comes down into Electric City ( which I think has pretty much died out) Borger is drying up. The Dairy Queens shut down, and you know if you don't have a Dairy Queen you lost you right to be a TX town:D

If I ever moved back to Texas I think I would choose to live in Sanford - or better yet; on the other end of the dam near the intersections of Hwys 1319/687/3396.  I remember there were a few houses their but I'm not sure it had a real 'name'.  Mesquite trees, an occasional cottonwood and boulders as big as busses.  Land of sunshine, rattlesnakes and COYOTES!  Go figure!   ;D

Having grown up on ranches and farms, I can relate.
The most "remote" I ever lived was when I was a tot.  The closest 'real' town was only about 50 miles away.  Of course we lived on Sitkinak (Island that is) and that 'closest town' was Kodiak over on the 'big island' and it took a healthy boat or float plane to traverse the gulf waters!  
I know I'm old now - I like having a 'corner grocier' down the block.

True story ...

Our house is for sale we have found and commited to one we like in a very small town.... I set up the Postoffice box while up there for a week , a couple weeks later my DH John went up ... stopped at the PO said to the folks setting on the bench " Hi I am new here" befoere he could finish the postmaster said Hi John ..... Small town ....

When we moved to our town of about 700 people, I went to the town hall to take care of some business. I had never been there before, but they already knew who I was. Even called my by name.
DH grew up in a town of 59. However, some of his family has moved away so they are down to about 50 now.
