IN BRIEF MSNBC Forced to Retract Latest Anti-Trump Fake News10 In the latest high-profile instance of the Leftmedia peddling anti-Trump fake news, MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell claimed Tuesday evening on Rachel Maddow’s show that he had a new Trump-colluded-with-Russia bombshell. O'Donnell breathlessly reported that he had information revealing that President Donald Trump had obtained loans cosigned by Russian oligarchs. Wow, finally! O'Donnell has the smoking gun behind the whole Russia-collusion conspiracy. As O'Donnell bloviated, “That would explain every kind word Donald Trump has ever said about Russia and Vladimir Putin.” Except for the fact that O'Donnell’s “information” was phony hearsay. Trump was quick to respond to the slanderous claim, as his personal attorney sent NBC a letter demanding an immediate retraction of the report. “These statements are false and defamatory, and extremely damaging,” wrote Trump’s lawyer, Charles Harder. He then demanded that O'Donnell and NBC “immediately and prominently retract, correct and apologize for the aforementioned false and defamatory statements.” On Wednesday, NBC capitulated. O'Donnell ruefully admitted on air, “Last night, I made an error in judgment by reporting an item about the president’s finances that didn’t go through our rigorous verification and standards process. I shouldn’t have reported it and I was wrong to discuss it on the air.” O'Donnell then offered this back-handed apology: “We don’t know whether the information is inaccurate. The fact is we do know it wasn’t ready for broadcast, and for that I apologize.” Trump’s statement following this last Leftmedia attack perfectly sums up why so many Americans are fed up and have lost all trust in the mainstream media: “The totally inaccurate reporting by Lawrence O'Donnell, for which he has been forced by NBC to apologize, is NO DIFFERENT than the horrible, corrupt and fraudulent Fake News that I (and many millions of GREAT supporters) have had to put up with for years. So bad for the USA!” Indeed, Trump was also right last year when he called Fake News and the Leftmedia’s gross bias “the true enemy of the people11.” https://patriotpost.us/articles/65128-msnbc-forced-to-retract-latest-anti-trump-fake-news NYT Labels Grassroots Patriots ‘Angry,’ ‘Racist’12 “The Tea Party Didn’t Get What It Wanted, but It Did Unleash the Politics of Anger.” That’s the title of the latest effort by the racist13 New York Times to try to bolster its revisionist narrative14 that America — and especially its president15 — is racist. There’s a small catch. The original Times story about the Tea Party didn’t mention racism. “A fundamental flaw in this analysis is there is no mention of race and how much racism drove the Tea Party movement,” ABC’s Matthew Dowd complained. “You can’t talk about the rage politics and leave out race.” Other criticism in the same vein followed, and the Times quickly came to heel, adding a post-publication line about how the Tea Party movement was really about “giving cover and a voice to those who wanted to attack the first black president — people who in some cases showed up at rallies waving signs with racist caricatures and references.” The box was now checked, however false the smear may have been. And Times “economist” Paul Krugman concurs: “It was always, from the beginning, about racial anger.” Arguably, the Tea Party as an “entity” hasn’t been a unified political force since Republicans retook the Senate in 2014. Republicans never followed through on most of the Tea Party’s demands. For example, ObamaCare is here to stay — unless it’s replaced by Medicare for All. President Donald Trump, whose status-quo-smashing victory was the result of the GOP’s failed record, won tax cuts and cut regulations, but federal spending and debt are worse than ever under his leadership. In fact, Trump happily signed the latest spending bill that includes permanently eliminating the Tea Party’s hard-won budget cuts from 2011 on the way to trillion-dollar deficits. Both tax and regulation success and deficit failure illustrate some of the reasons for division among conservatives over supporting him in 2015 and 2016. But what the coastal leftist elites at the Times really mean to do is malign grassroots Americans. Those “who have signed the Tea Party’s death certificate overlook one way it continues to define the country today,” the Times tells us. “It ignited a revival of the politics of outrage and mistrust in government, breathing new life into the populist passions that continue to threaten the stability of both political parties. Even if the Tea Party’s ideas are dead, its attitude lives on.” (If that sounds familiar, it’s because Barack Obama mocked the “angry mob” of the Tea Party for “waving their little tea bags.”) Why can’t we all get along? the Times wonders. Because of those angry, racist Tea Party mobs. No violence, no riots, and no terrorism came from the Tea Party. Those are all hallmarks of the Left — from Occupy Wall Street to Black Lives Matter to antifa. In any case, as Mark Alexander wrote in 201116, “American Patriotism refers to the steadfast devotion for the First Principles of our nation’s Founding, individual Liberty innately and inherently endowed by our Creator, and the extension of that legacy to our posterity.” There’s nothing angry or racist about that. https://patriotpost.us/articles/65129-nyt-labels-grassroots-patriots-angry-racist ON OUR WEBSITE TODAY Featured Analysis: Cultivated Hopelessness: Americans Lose Faith, Patriotism17 — A recent survey of Millennials and Generation Z reveals troubling cultural trends. TOP NEWS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY COMEY EXPOSED: Former FBI Director James Comey, whose Trump Derangement Syndrome motivated him to leak a memo, has managed to remain legally unscathed. But his luck just might be running out. The Justice Department inspector general today revealed, “We conclude that Comey’s retention, handling, and dissemination of certain Memos violated Department and FBI policies, and his FBI Employment Agreement.” Furthermore, “Comey is also a possible target of Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s investigation into alleged Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse,” according to the Washington Examiner25. “He signed three of the four FISA applications targeting former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page before being fired by Trump. Horowitz’s report is expected to be released after Labor Day.” Put another way, Dorian might not be the only storm wreaking havoc over the coming weeks and months. Dorian left the Caribbean relatively unscathed as it pushed past Puerto Rico and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands on Wednesday. But forecasters at the National Hurricane Center say the storm is primed to strengthen to a Category 3 hurricane with possible ‘rapid intensification’ as it swirls into the Atlantic.” By the way, it’s global warming’s fault. THINNING THE HERD: “Struggling Democratic presidential candidates are facing the bad news that they are not among the 10 who have qualified for the next debate, a predicament that is likely to spell doom for their campaigns. Hours ahead of a midnight Wednesday deadline to qualify, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced she was dropping out of the race after spending at least $4 million on advertising in recent months to qualify. Billionaire climate change activist Tom Steyer, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock and self-help guru Marianne Williamson were also among those missing September’s debate, as were Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet, Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and a handful of others.” (Associated Press27) ONE-TRICK PONY? “Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams on Wednesday ruled out running for the Senate next year following news that Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) would retire,” according to The Hill28. Maybe that’s because she has her eyes set on the veep prize29. NEW FACEBOOK RULES: “Facebook announced Wednesday that it will tighten its rules on political advertising ahead of the 2020 elections, in an attempt to crack down on election interference after insidious actors ran rampant on the platform in 2016. … The rules will enhance a previous set of regulations the social-media company rolled out last year requiring political advertisers to name and prove the identities of the groups behind their ads.” (National Review30) UNION CORRUPTION: “FBI and Internal Revenue Service agents raided the home of UAW President Gary Jones in metro Detroit early Wednesday as part of a nationwide sweep of sites tied to the autoworker union,” the Detroit Free Press reports31. “Agents also raided the California home of Dennis Williams, who preceded Jones as UAW chief; the union’s northern Michigan conference center; a UAW regional office in Missouri, where Jones was based previously; and the home of Williams aide Amy Loasching in Wisconsin. The multiagency raids were a major step as federal officials ramped up their corruption investigation of the autoworkers union — which is in the midst of contract negotiations with Detroit automakers.” And yet they wonder why Chattanooga’s Volkswagen plant doesn’t want AUW representation? METHANE DEREGULATION: “The Environmental Protection Agency, in a proposed rule, will aim to eliminate federal requirements that oil and gas companies install technology to inspect for and fix methane leaks from wells, pipelines and storage facilities. … Under the proposal, methane, the main component of natural gas, would be only indirectly regulated. A separate but related category of gases, known as volatile organic compounds, would remain regulated under the new rule, and those curbs would have the side benefit of averting some methane emissions.” (The New York Times32) WHAT DISCRIMINATION? “This year is shaping up to be the first year that women make up the majority of the college-educated labor force, a milestone that is already altering benefits packages offered by companies and one that could influence family sizes in the future. … Since 2013, the female share of college-educated workers has been around the 49% mark, with 2019 being the year that women cross into a very slight majority.” (The Wall Street Journal33) POLICY: Why are automakers caving to California’s radical greens? The Castro government for over a half-century was responsible for the murders of thousands of Cubans and Latin Americans in efforts to solidify Cuban ‘socialism’ throughout Latin America. When our schools and colleges do not teach unbiased economics and history, then millions of youth have no idea why the United States, Great Britain, Germany and Japan became wealthy and stable by embracing free-market capitalism and constitutional government. Few learn why naturally rich nations such as Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela — or entire regions such as Central America, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia — have traditionally lagged far behind due to years of destructive central planning, socialist economics and coerced communist government. The handmaiden of failed socialist regimes has always been ignorance of the past and present. And that is never truer than among today’s American college-degreed (but otherwise economically and historically illiterate) youth.” SHORT CUTS Insight: “Well-meaning Americans in the name of freedom have taken freedom away. And the way we would lose is if we look like all we have to offer is a return to the old status quo, because that wasn’t working either. America definitely cannot survive four more years of this presidency and be a healthy Republic, but we also can’t go back to what we had before.” —Pete Buttigieg D'oh! “[Trump] just came back from the G-8. … If I have any expertise, it’s American foreign policy.
